At 4:29 that corolla was almost in your lane. I hate it when people do that 'cos for a split second you think they're changing lanes and you go "Oh no!" on the inside. That's when you know someone isn't concentrating properly :shakehead:
Nice vid... it's only missing some V8 thunda :mmm:
Yep, a lot of people are in the habit of doing this! In major accidents speed does obviously play a part, but it's not paying attention that's the biggest cause IMO!
Brings me to another topic - my best buddy, still from school years, was killed in this exact ares, just on the other side going towards Newlands! Was in 2000 and early one morning after visiting me - apparently as he came around the corner a drunk guy in an old Jetta was barrelling up in the wrong direction from an off-ramp, was a head-on collision and Nick was driving an Uno. So while the other guy survived, and later got away with it due to his blood tests getting lost, my friend was for a week in a coma at Constantiaberg Hospital, but didn't make it!
Then some weeks later I had gone with friends to watch Gone in 60 Seconds on the big-screen, and afterwards on the way home at this very corner on the video I met the E36 318i Motorsport that I had seen leaving Cavendish earlier (probably also watched the movie) - it was lying on its roof with the nose facing backwards. It was clear that he came into the corner way too fast and lost the back end, clipped the curb on the right with the back wheel flinging the car over! I still stopped to help, car was pushed back onto its wheels so that it could be cleared away to the side of the road and then towed away. Amazingly, all four occupants were 100% fine apart from cuts and scratches! I remember being very impressed with the strength of the E36! Was on its roof, then pushed over back onto its wheels, landed solidly and the suspension even after the accident damage handled this with ease - car was a write-off I reckon, but did its job saving the occupants!
