non vanos M50 to vanos?

I am totally new to this area and your experience and expertise is welcome.

Can I take a non vanos M50 b 25 from a E34 525i
Change the camshafts and install the vanos unit from a E 36 328i
And transplant into E 36 328i.
Will this work without any problems?

You need to change the sump pan cause the the one from the 5 series will hit the crossmember.You can't retrofit a VANOS unit as far as I am aware and not much point changing the cams either.It will then go into the 328 however it may not run with the 328's electrical wiring...so you will need the ECU from the 5 series too,then it should be OK,I'll try dig out some ore info...PM me if I don't get back to this thread

If i get the ecu from the 525i, will I have to get the 328 rewire again?
