I will say, WOW....what a find...but then at the same time - what does a timer of 87yrs old do with a VR6....Im stumped:YesNo:

Either way, they are top cars, and they are machines at the same time.

I would have immediately attended my nearest casino or lotto outlet - cause you were darn lucky to pick such a sweet gem up!!!

Enjoy it!

Hi Guys,

Yes this is a BMW forum for us fanatics, but once in a while there will come a time when a gem like this comes by that we cant just say no too.

A very big thank you to Coisman for doing a back ground check.

Car: 1996 VW Jetta VR6 Auto
Mileage: 30 000kms YES YOU READ CORRECTLY - I don't have Zuma syndrome.

I tried to find something wrong with this car but I came out with 4 faults.

1. Grill has been changed. Why, I don't know. looked for accident damaged and cant see anything.
2. Cubby hole lock broken, this was jammed as it not been opened for a very very very very long time.
3. Small dent at the front of the car below the headlight on the grill. Nothing too noticeable.
4. BBS cap missing at the rear LHS wheel rim.
5. Old battery leaked at some point due to the car standing, leaking acid on the brackets and fire wall.
6. Car has never been serviced according to the books as they are still new. I took a chance and bought the car knowing this. :skit:

History on this car from what I've have been told and it is evident in the condition.

The car was owned by a 87 year old lady. (Log Book proves her age)
She sadly passed away 8 years ago and the car has been parked ever since. It was inherited together with her retirement home and a holiday home in Haarties by her neighbour a 72 year old who decided to sell the car now that the estate was sorted out.

Things that I have sorted,

I did a full fluid change. Car rides like a dream. Its unbelievable!
Gearbox is a bit 'lazy'. That will be looked at very soon. This can be expected seeing that car has been parked off, never the less I still bought it.

and now for the pics ....:tiptoe:

Will upload more later.

Cheers
I will upload pics for you

I used to get a lift to school with a neighbour and one of the cars she had was a Jetta VR6, we used to call it the VRITZ. Let's just say we used to get to school pretty quickly when she used the VRITZ. Later her oldest son got the car some sound was added and was used to go to the Jols until he got his Golf 4 GTI.

Anyway good luck with your new/old wheels:rollsmile:, may your VRITZ bring you many happy miles

Its the same question I asked myself and there is just no answer to it.
Maybe a salesperson that took advantage of her age and gave the a top cab :clapper:

Need to find him and buy him a dop :roflol:

Thanks for the comments.

Defininetly one of the better colours on the Jettas, the black trim contrast against the red is awesome.

I would consider reverting the top strip on the bumper to the original black it just flows better with the door mouldings and smoked tail lights...:coolShake:

Thanks I hear what you saying,

That was the one thing I was gonna do, but this car looks nice the way it is. So I decided against it. But I know it look much better.

To get some one to sort out the top stripe on this bumper is another story all together. :thumbdo:

Thanks for the pics.
I noticed the speedo goes to 240km/h.
I remember the brochure of the Golf, and the centre page was the interior with the speedo going up to 260km/h.

Wonder if the auto speedo is different to the manual?

This model comes like that it is in between the fully colour coded and textured bumpers, late 95 - early 96 models.

Only the very early spec VR6 go up to 260 km/h, the mid range to late model all read 240 km/h.

Prob paid n good amount with the old ppl.

Ready to sell yet and make some money? Lol

Not at all ready to sell, if I bought it to sell i would doubled my money already. Been offered that plus any other cost that I incurred for me to purchase the car. It was alot but i turned it down :roflol:

You're very lucky. Its very hard getting a VR6 that's in excellent condition like that one, congrats bro. I've seen automatic VR6's but haven't heard one drive off etc, does it sound as heavenly as the manual?

Believe me it sounds just as heavenly. Car has a stock exhaust and it will remain that way.

My dad owend a VR6 Jetta in the day but in manual guise. So I know exactly what you on about.

Haha awesome brother. Yeah the stock exhaust makes it sound really amazing. I remember when I wanted a VR6 back in matric (2012), these vehicles are beasts. Enjoy her and may you have many bliss miles with her :clapper:
