No more Open Track Days @ Killarney

SO as per my track car thread, I have now hit a serious wall, no more track days at Killarney!!

Hi Anthony, thanks for sending the email - I have added your email address to our emailing database for future updates.

Unfortunately due to noise pollution issues we are not able to add more streetcar track days at this stage, the Killarney calendar will be updated soon and it looks as though we will not be running any events on Sundays (possibly some special events could run on Sundays but most events will be cancelled if we cant find another time to run them). We need to improve our chance of renewing the lease for the land in a few years time and if we continue being “bad neighbors” this will become less lightly.

what they talking about? its not noise pollution, its music to the ears!

only petrol heads should be allowed to buy property near a racetrack.

Why not just have stricter restrictions on noise?
The guys with race cars are very noisy compared to road legal cars. I am referring to the race cars that come for shake down runs during the track days.

Agreed!! All track days in the UK had noise restrictions. ell participants had to rev up to 4500 rpm and they would take a noise reading and if too noisy, it would be "see you later"....

My GF stay in Sunninghill, and is about +-10km away from the track and can still hear what's going on on the track:nonono:

If the lease is up for renewal in 10 years then they will definitely loose it then!!! The new development runs from Dunoon to Atlantis and will be another set of complaining so and sos'.

Why not just have a track day every Sunday and use the money to buy another track out Malmesbury way?

What a load of BS, I live in Big Bay Blouberg and this Otto Du plessis road sounds like a race track on steroids and they drive and crash like it as well and they want to talk about sound pollution.:flyfun:

+1 on the noise restrictions, could also be used to limit the performance of track cars on these occasions, level the playing field a little. This is also an example of people being silly though, you buy a property next to a race venue, then complain about the noise, WTF? Same as complaining about broken windows on a golf estate, makes no sense. Great shame though, good luck with making other arrangements. :fencelook:

Fact is....

- the track has been there BEFORE any neighbourhood moved in
- if you buy close to a racing circuit you MUST know what you are doing or in for

It's virtually the same situation where people i.e. in Germany buy close to Frankfurt Airport, even work for the airport but then complain about noise :argh:

I don't think that sundays was ever a racing day due to noise. So I suppose that it is just to noticable with the loud exhausts that some cars have.

Such a load of rubbish! As said above, the track was there long before any residential developed areas sprang up, sort of like Yseterplaat Airbase - and yet people living right near the base off Koeberg Road were complaining about the air shows! Similar to people living in Greenpoint complaining about the noisy activities at the stadium! Don't live close to these venues!!!

But yes, stricter noise restrictions is the logical step! And yes, in most cases, not noise, music!!

So why do they put out confusing messages in the first place. :bangdesk:

Just like any organisation, the left hand usually doesn't immediately know what the right is doing.

On the noise issue, the drivers briefing always mentions loud exhausts, but scrutinizing makes no attempt to determine the exhaust noise.
