No longer service ZF steering racks?

I went to ZF Services yesterday to drop off a E46 steering rack for refurbishment and they say they no longer service steering racks. This is quite sad because I have been using that service for many years. I was referred to a local Alberton company R&R Steering that can refurbish it, they have it now.

These days it is all about money and more about replace then repair. So sad that a business like this and you being a loyal customer OP are let down. Did they supply you with the reason behind that decision, suppose not.

Hate to say it but more and more companies are taking uninformed or poorly informed decisions based on poor interpretations of data with people who might have impressive credentials but no experience with reality of business, economics etc.

I have directly been impacted by this on a different scale recently and hammering a point home becomes infinitely more difficult when the view you are opposing has been endorsed by a prestigious consulting firm... Having been through this journey I feel it is quite easy to guess which companies are victims of this

I have heard that BMW is going to start selling sub-assemblies again which is a start (as opposed to having to shell out massive amounts of money on entire power units because they don't eg: sell cranks or block casings individually).
