Please help!
I had the leaking oil seal on the input shaft to the gearbox replaced on my 1982 BMW 518i. The release bearing was also replaced.
Got the car back, and no 5th gear!!! The gearbox was never opened. Also, the gear lever positions is different now, 1st gear is where 3rd is supposed to be and 3rd where 5th is supposed to be!? The gear lever seem to be catching the gear lever housing when trying to engage 5th.
Did/could something have moved inside the gearbox when it was removed from the car and maybe put on its "head" when trying to remove the oil seal?
Is it the Gertrag 245 gearbox that is fitted to my car?
Gear selection feels slightly stiff too!?
