it has arrived!!!

felt like today took forever, but the car is safe at home with me now, and very i'm very happy:=):
seems like it delft with its travels well, though a plastic panel underneath the drivers side seems to have got a bit ripped and is hanging a bit, minor issue and will make a plan in the morning about it.
other then that i am very happy with the car, it drives very well, looks great and is in very good condition for its age. was great to be in an e39 again:rollsmile:

here a couple quick pics that i took when i got home, the weather was terrible, but will take some more pics over the weekend and post again,
i am in love with the colour, its so amazing:blowheart:

Hi Andreas, you have made a good choice in cars. Excellent buy! Enjoy her! AS for the wheels, i am more than willing to swop!!?? Think the charcoal inners will contrast nicely with the dark colour of your new car. You have my number!

Thanks Johan! Driven about 100kms today already and must say that I'm very impressed and pleased with the car, it drives beautifully, very stable and smooth.
Regarding the wheels, I will give it some thought, though I must say that I think the style 66's on the car suite it pretty much perfectly! They also look awesome on e46's though.

Still got some more driving to do this afternoon/evening, can't wait:rollsmile:

ah what a day yesterday:tiptoe:
roller coaster of emotions

so, i had a great day driving around the 530i, it really impressed me:skit: good thing i had a lot to do and a lot of places to go to:rollsmile:
it pulls so effortlessly, and really goes well, the m54b30 never fails to amaze and impress me, even in such a big car, it really hauls well, and with such a refined and stable chassis, you dont really realise just how fast you are going. what a gem.
the car is so stable and smooth, the suspension is a masterpiece, really planted in corners and doesnt roll nearly as much as i thought it would, maybe due to the m sport dampers. it really has a solid feel, while also doing a great job at feeling comfortable, with lots of feedback.
also the consumption is impressive, it really feels like a proper autobahn cruiser, i think it was getting less 10L/100 at +-160kmph, while feeling completely sure footed at those speeds,
to me it really seems like a case of the best chassis with the best engine combination.
such a different feeling to my 330i

also the interior, immaculate and so great to be in, coupled with every time i get out the car i just cant stop staring at it, its fantastic!

the only down side to the day was in the evening on the way to my parents for dinner and to show them the car, the drivers side window go stuck at about 3/4 up:cry:fiddled around with it and tried to pull it up/help it up, but it would only go down, or to the 3/4 mark. no further. seemed like the motor was fine, but that it must have been something else, tried a couple things, but all that i could see that was left to do was take of the door card and strip the door to see what was happening.....:thumbdo:
and me and the girlfriend had to go out that evening....

so after dinner at about 7:30 we got everything off, was not that bad, the found out that it was one of the steel cables that was coming off its guide causing the window to not raise past a certain point.
got that sorted but am leaving the window closed for the moment till i can get someone to make a permanent solution for it.
first thought it mite be the regulator.
so then its 9:30 and when we finally want to go, the battery is dead.....:RedNo::thumbdo::thumbdo::thumbdo:

jump start the car and just go home, i had had enough.

even so, eveything is all good and have been driving the car today no issues, i still love it,

just seems like murphy struck hard last night lol

how i spent last night

can someone please explain something to me, or am i just missing something or being stupid,
so my car is an auto steptronic, how does it stay in a certain gear, but the revs change depending on how hard you drive, as in it can pull from 2000rpm in 5th or decide to "kick down" up the revs to 3000rpm at the same speed like theres and overdrive or something in each gear...
hard to explain,

like the gears and diff ratios are obviously set, but they can change depending on how you driving..

It's an adaptive box, so it shifts based on what you're asking of it.

Lovely car, by the way. The 530i is the best all-around E39, in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply,
I definitely agree with it being the best all rounder e39, everything you need in a car, not the fastest, but more then enough, and decent economy,

I hear what your saying about the gearbox, but still, how does it vary revs in the same gear, like for instance how can it cruse at 2500+~ rpm [i think actually a bit less then that] in 5th, with its gearing? My manual 330i with a lower diff ratio was at 4krpm at 120?

I think it's due to how the torque converter locks up, but I could be speaking absolute cobblers. My 540 (which has an older gen ZF) behaves similarly.
