Good Morning Guys;

I also a new member and im looking forward to great advise and learning.

My current issue; I recently bought a 335i M-sport E93... took it for a checkup ... Major issue are the turbo's .. the cost for reconditioning the turbos is estimated at 25k. Found a place in CP selling second hand turbo's ( the ones im looking for) for R 10k. So im not sure what is safe here .. recondition turbo or the second hand ones... Obviously the price does have an impact..

lastly is there a place in PE that you guys might know of .. selling second hand turbo's ..

Looking forward to your advise.

Many Thanks

Siya

I personally think buying second hand turbo's can turn out to be you opening another can of worms entirely.

The biggest disappointment would be buying the turbo, install it, it works for a while and thereafter breaks again.

You never know what you buying. If it is a good buy than you scored lucky, But if you didn't, You will regret it.

I rather be safe than sorry with second hand things. Unless I know who I am buying it from.

Does the second hand turbo's come with a guarantee/warranty atleast?

I say convert them to hybrid turbos, more power and then work is done with some piece of mind.

I would not buy a second hand turbo, there is a reason it was removed from the car.. and very seldom the reason is for an intended upgrade.. my 2c

I also think used turbos are a false economy.

Welcome.
You may be lucky to find good used turbos but it makes more economical sense to upgrade your current ones. Peace of mind and more power at the same time.
