My G01 30d is at 8.3/100 mainly town driving and almost always “enthusiastic” driving

Amazing consumption for such a powerful vehicle! As I said if I was purchasing would have definitely went for a used 30d.

Update: My cousin decided on a different colour after seeing one in person and unfortunately there were none available immediately . Order placed with factory today and should be ready by end February.

X3 xDrive20d
Carbon Black Metallic
787M wheels
M Sport Package
Deluxe Package (Comfort access, electric tow hitch, rear roller blinds)
Leather 'Vernasca' Black with blue stitching
Instrument panel in Sensatec (compulsory option when selecting leather seats for some reason)
Shadow Line (gloss black trims, roof rails and grille)
Harmon Kardon sound
Spare wheel

Will take delivery of it as is off the truck without the dealer touching it and straight to my place for a few days for sticker and plastic removal before a proper wash and detail before ceramic coating almost everything from the paint to the glass and leather/interior trims.

Going to be an exciting coating project for me and look forward to maintaining it over its lifetime :giggle:

The X drive and heavier body effect.. The best thing about these diesels is that no matter how much you hit it, it don't change much on consumption..

Hi guys

Just an update.

BMW factory is delayed due to a restriction being placed on the Harmon Kardon sound and Instrument panel in Sensatec. We first had a revised delivery time of April 2023 but have just been told yesterday that the HK sound might not be possible on 20d's anymore even G20's.

The dealer has been great though and has offered my cousin a courtesy car from this month until his build is ready.

Yoh,

So if not HK, what other sound upgrade are they going to offer in these cars, If any at all?

Related to semiconductor microchip supply issues?

HiFi sound bud but he really wanted the HK as his other cars both have premium sound that he is accustomed to.

This link sums up the difference in systems nicely.

Related to semiconductor microchip supply issues?

Yes worldwide issue so they are limiting HK to the top of the ranges so probably 30d, 40i and X3 M.

Shot bru, what a kak decision though...HK is such a well suited addition to these bigger vehicles.

I have HK in the F20 and it sounds absolutely decent...and in the X5 I heard HK over the normal HiFi sounds and it makes a huge difference, B&O is just another level afterwards.

I had the same issue when ordering the JCW back in 2021, it was the peak of the shortage and as a result ended up with HiFi sound instead of HK. I ticked every single option when ordering the car, even the wife was very disappointed when it arrived without HK.
Had I been informed timeously I probably would have canned the deal (That's another thorn in my side and story for another day).

I actually want to sell the car now because of it but the SO won't let me :ROFLMAO: I can't deal with having a JCW with sub-standard sound and what's worse is they brought it back as an option last year

Thanks guys my next question was going to be if anyone experienced both HK and HiFi and if there is a big difference.
Well I have HK in the X3 and love it. I will never have another car without HK or another premium sound upgrade if I ever switch brands.
I'm by no means a serious audiophile otherwise even Harmon Kardon won't suffice but I do enjoy the sound quality it provides without the need for the capital outlay on a proper audio system.

I also drive with the radio very softly in the Mini or not at all purely because I know what I am missing having heard a Mini sound with HK. It is actually better performing than HK in the X3 purely because of the smaller cabin. The audio may not be a dealbreaker for some but it is for me. Like I said previously I am 110% certain that I would have canned the deal had I known the car was not coming with HK.

I fetched the first loan car on Saturday.

Brand spanking new Mini Cooper S with just 038kms on the clock since BMW's were out of stock.

Very well built vehicle with decent power from the B48 motor.

Will be swapping it out for an X3 this week some time.

The Carbon Black colour is really something else in the sun. Very rare as well with Black Sapphire Metallic and Sophisto Grey being the more popular dark colour choice in the G01.

Might be some forged wheels in the future.20230401_130102.jpg20230401_130218.jpg
