woah !

you must be one of the extremely few that actually "test" or uses their tyre's gripping abilities to their design limit....I drive like an old man (that I am) and I wouldn't even come remotely close to testing my tyres level of grip, even if I fitted the cheapest Ling-longs etc.

I cannot comment on the quality of Toyo's as they have never passed thru my hands ever, but I was always aware that Michellin was a very "grip-ey" tyre.....so why did you deviate away from Michellin in the first place..?

Maybe Toyo's are designed for lifespan (harder compound) than for Grip (softer compound)

Maybe also check your tyres pressures, it could be that they overinflated your new tyres, thus stiffer and smaller footprint on the road.

Hi,

Check your tyre pressures, might be as simple as that.

Will check the tyre pressures.
I don't corner hard with this car as its "the family " car but it just seems so loose when even changing lanes on the highway.

I had 3 sets of toyos on my other cars and found it to be a grippy tyre.
The michelins were just way over priced when I was shopping around.

Did you have wheel alignment done when you changed your tyres? I would think if the car feels "loose" it's because your alignment is off. I usually have this problem when my camber isn't set correctly.

I would not be surprised if this was the cause....

(No offence to Toyo they do make decent tires, but they're no Michelins)

Yup... Budget tyres dude. Simple as that!!!

I've driven a car with them on... Found them shocking!!!! Toyo is decent though, better than that Wanli or Silverstone crap though.

You definitely can't compare them to Michelins. With tyres, you get what you pay for... Well most things really.

Michelin PSS are some of the best tires you currently get... that said it could also be alignment or tire pressure as suggested most shops need supervision in this department when getting new rubber fitted :)

I hate it when you fit new components, the car feels wrong, and the shops blame the car in some other way. (like alignment for argument's sake)

I mean the car felt perfect before, you changed one thing, and now its gone haywire. Obviously its the direct result of the replacement part.

Seems logical to me, but these blood sucking, cash hunting retards running these shops actually don't have a clue.:smashScreen:

To get back to your last sentence......

Yes it will improve slightly over time, but never feel absolutely planted.
It will feel ALMOST like the Michelins when they are completely worn out

Check the alignment sheet. Your camber should be slightly negative. I've had this problem almost everytime I take my car in for alignment. Most places don't have any special settings for M sport suspensions so they don't set the camber correctly. That's been my experience anyway. TWT seem to be getting it right with my car so far, but I always specify that my car has an M sport suspension. I would take the car back and ask them to redo the alignment, then take it from there. IMO the tyre's alone shouldn't make your car feel unstable, but then again I only have experience with Conti's and PS3's..

Another thing to consider is looking at the production date of the tyre... you can find the information on the sidewall of the tyre. This would give you an indication of how long the tyre has been shelved before its been fitted to your car.

Something else to check besides obvious things that have been mentioned (pressure, alignment).... If the car has been hoisted up the suspension components (LCB's etc) if worn could of moved and resettled differently causing the sensation you are describing. I had an issue like this on an e46 330i I once had. It was 100% with original tyres and replaced with Bridgestones and car felt all over the show. Went back numerous times no joy - eventually sent it to a specialist and they found the rear trailing arm bushes were the problem - worn and had re-settled in a different way. Changed them and things went back to 100%.
