Hi BMW Fans!

I'm new to the forum, and fall into the door with an issue.
I have an e46 3i8i manual. It has a slight miss, or hesitation when in 2nd gear just before 3000rpm. almost feels like an auto changing gear. Where do i look to resolve this. It started after I replaced valve stem seals, which should not be related. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks
Petrie

Hi Petrie

Do you have access to a scan tool, where you can get the codes read. I reckon thats a good starting point.

When you replaced the valve stem seals did you do a Compression test?

EDIT : I would suggest looking at the basics by yourself first - Spark plugs and Ignition coils.

Welcome,

Try unplugging the MAF and drive it around the block and check if issue persists.

Also inspect all intake pipes for holes/tears.

Also check CCV/PCV. Slowly remove the oil cap while it's idling. If there is a lot of suction or the engine dies then that's likely your problem.
