So managed to do a deal to get a car from my childhood back to the family. My Dad designed and built this car in 1983/84 and we spent many days at tracks around the country when he raced it to a good degree of success. It's a very historical car in South Africa as the first Formula Vee to have zero roll rear suspension which most of the new Vees run today.
The aim is to restore it back to what it used to look like and was originally designed with the help of my Dad and then enjoy it at a few practise days and perhaps even a few races.
The pics:
There are a number of changes that happened to her over the years, including losing her beautiful original VDO gauges and Momo steering wheel. The body is generally similar, but will be corrected.
Here is what she used to look like:
Will try and document as much as possible on her road back to glory. Stripping will start this weekend, the chassis is badly twisted and bent so we are hoping we can save her without having to build a new chassis which would be against the spirit of what we are trying to achieve.
