I took possession of a E90 320i 2005 (with all the extras like rain sensors, park distance control, cruise control etc) with 78000 km on the clock last Friday and I'm excited every time I get into the car ! I mean, I went from a Toyota Corolla 2003 140i ! I can't even begin to describe the experience. Went to Llandudno this morning and the whole trip was just a joy.

I understand!!!

Welcome and please post pics!

You see, the meaning of the word "FANATIC" takes in the correct meaning... and it only happens with the magic letters BMW in front of it!!!

Without that it is worthless.
Enjoy!

I hope the OP doesn't mind, but here are two pics (not the best, mind you, but I took them a few minutes ago...)

The dent you on the bottom pic (near the bottom) is going to be fixed by SMG. I had a 30% tint done on the windows. Thinking of having the door handles color coded.

Looks sweat in white, but I do agree that the door handles need to also be white! Where did you get your windows tinted and how much did it cost? And how do you find visibility at night?

I think some tinting could do my car good, especially in Summer!

OP, we need to see pics of your new ride! :)

Hi Phillip,

I had my windows tinted at BMW, SMG. They gave me the option of 50% or 30% tint (the lower the %, the darker) so I chose the darker tint as it gives a sportier look, cuts down on UV sunlight and yeah, it does keep the car a little cooler. Visibility inside the car is great. I was a little worried that my visibility during the day would be a problem with such a dark tint but inside it looks like nothing has been tinted. So it's not a problem. Also, at night, it's almost completely pitch black from the outside, so I'm sure that will cut down on theft too.

Hi Olorin,

I just purchased a black 330d and was looking to get the windows tinted, cause the car gets really hot in the sun. I know it would look great with a dark tint, but I don't want to go too gangster especially with the car being black. Also i travel a lot so without the front window tinted i'd be wearing sunglasses often. So the question really is if you are wearing sunglasses and you looking out the side windows when driving, is the 30% tint not too dark?

Thanks

PS: Congrats on the Beemer

With a 35% tint you aren't even aware that tint has been applied when you are inside the cabin. But what you notice is the sun doesn't create nearly as much glare while inside and it's cooler. I was thinking of tinting it further to 15% but the BMW rep told me that its illegal. :bawling: Well, they could do it, but then I must take responsibility for being pulled over.

Thanks and congrats yourself on the 330d. I wish I had the torque of the 320d, let alone the 330d. :banghead:

BTW, about the color coding of the handles, according to SMG I need to go to Atlantic Coachworks to have it done (expensive) otherwise I risk my motor plan. How messed up is that ?

Shweet thanks!! Will go with the 35% then. The torque is immense. I went from a 1.6 Peugeot 307 to this. I had to keep myself in check the first few day :excited:

@olorin. If you paying cash they generally drop the price. I had the door handles as well as the bootlid handle on the e46 colour coded for R2500 at BMW. Makes a huge difference IMO.

They are charging me R2000 to have 4 door handles color coded. That, to me, is expensive. Not sure if that is normal pricing but man, R2000 just to paint 4 handle bars ?
