But yah, its a big jump from my current car to any of those two mentioned. I need a new family car since we have got a 1yr old and at the same time I get to drive a car that I like

Take the 328i as it has already taken a knock, hence it's the same price as a brand new 320i.
Just take it for a nice long test drive and if it's all good take it. It comes with motorplan so no worries there.

I got the VIN number of my new (potential ) purchase and called BMW to check if their is anything on the Motorplan that was claimed, comments etc...

I was told to piss off ( nicely ) and that they do not disclose this information unless i have the e-natis registration...is this true , is there anyone else who can help me ?

car is being delivered in cape town ( auric auto ) and they will do all checks etc and ship it back to me on friday - kida stupid if i must admit because the car is in JHB at the moment (but BMW wont allow me to see it up here)

Thats hogwash, if car is here just oitch up at dealerhship and go see it. Dont EVER buy without seeing it...even 8900km..if they being cagy then it sounds fishy. Who in the right mind will put that money to waste to send the car to CPT and then back again for delivery!

I completely agree. With Motorplan you buy a car with little worry. BUT, you must know what you're getting into. Even if there are comments, you want to know about them and fully understand what you're getting. Investigate properly before signing please.

True I agree with the motor-plan part but even with motor-plan, if anything happens to the car...its the inconvenience that pisses me of also bud. I hate not having my car with me, no matter where it is. Especially a 328i ohh la la!

got a print screen view emailed me from the dealer today- all seems ok with the car from a motor plan etc - no claims or comments.

what i did notice on the print screen that this car is/was a car allowance car from BMW SA - It doesnt look like it was at a dealer before.

so im told that they want the car to be delivered to them first so that they can do all quality checks and cosmetics once they are happy with will send it back up for delivery - Im not sure what to make of this - if i dont get joy by wednesday then il pull out on this deal and look else where to a 328. they actually going at good prices atm.

BTW I called BMW head office for the information and they refused - I spoke to the dealer now and he sent me some information - he also said he will get BMW SA ( where he got the car from ) to send a letter to him re the car - stating no accidents, no claims, comments or issues with the car.

He did mention to me that his manager made the call to have the car sent down to CT so they can do all the checks before selling - if they let a dealer in jhb do the quality checks for me and something goes wrong then that dealer isnt liable and he will be sitting with issues of an unhappy customer- that makes sense to me.

the biggest issue I have is that the car is on route to CT and until then i cannot get pics or condition of car.- dealer mentioned the car will be in the shop tomorrow.

Il wait and see how it turns out, I might even take a flight to CT to view the car and drive it around.

the guy from auric bmw ( tariq ) seems helpful and willing to please his customers - so far though it hasnt been going very well.
