I am pissed! I had a new set of perspex plates printed and they come with 4 holes. The fellow says they are for the new cars and the new holders. I DON'T WANT 4 HOLES IN MY PLATES FOR A '98 MODEL!

Looks k@k. Oh well print a new set? R230.00 worth of beer money gone!

What do you guys think?

Nothing you can do bout that though... Get the biggest assed screws and fasten it. Thats how they want it :cursin:

Put some tape over the holes on the back of the plat, Fill the holes with Bicarb soda powder & put a few drops of superglue on that. Should fill the holes

I took out my screws and fastened my plate with hevy duty 2-sided tape.
So I also have a few screw holes in my plate.
I cant get it over my heart to put screws into my bumper.

Gizmo has an awesome idea, he uses the pin/push plugs things that BMW use to hold the inner covers of the wheel arches to the body , on his plates.
That one is he is clevaaaaa.:).

So with your four holes on your plate, you could use the smaller plugs and hold your plate to the bumper.

Does anyone know if this is what they are going to be from now on? Can you still get the ones without the holes?

Dunno if it's a new thing, but I still got a personalized plate earlier this year without the holes. The general plates all would have them.

It is possible, it depends on the supplier , some palte shops still keep the old (no hole) plate.
But eventually all our plates will have to be Aluminium plates with the RFID tags...:cursin:

While we can, lets enjoy have the perspex plate... :thumb:

Say have anyone noticed how the government graffiti f#ck$up the BMW designed airflow into the intake duct on the E36..?

Makes you laugh with wonder and then you cry.

It is official! All new plates now come with the 4 holes. Sorry for the rant. My options are:

1. Double sided tape as normal and live with the holes;

2. Double sided tape and super glue a "dummy" rivet in the holes

3. Get the backing plates and do it the legal way! I note on the E39 there are screw holes in the boot and on the front bumper already. Just think the backing plate will mess with the look?

Backing plate is just plain Fugly!!!

Dummy rivets or covers sounds like a good idea.

Mine had the backing plates when I bought it, I removed those and fitted the plates with holes and double sided tape... It is only holes and I got used to them... don't even notice.... there are bigger a...holes on our roads to notice and whatch out for...
