Good Day everyone,

My name is Jannie and I stay in the Kempton Park area.
Beginning last year, I became the proud owner of a 2015 BMW X3 3.0d. This is my first time to own a BMW and I can understand why people say if you have driven a bmw you will never buy another car again. So far it has exceeded all my expectations. it is a real driver’s car and that 3.0d is a monster, although I drive it like a baby. I do not want to change tyres every now and then. I only drive low sulphur diesel(10ppm) and on the open road I get about 6.8l/100km @130km/h. In town about 9.5l/100km. Currently the indicator sits at 8.5l/100km and I have not reset it since I bought the vehicle – so the average is over quite a number of tanks.

Thanks Everyone,

After a year of ownership I am very happy with the car and it drives like a dream however, there are 2 incredibly annoying issues...

1. Start/Stop function. For the life of me I don’t remember to disactivate the start stop function. So every time I drive the bloody car at the first stop the thing dies. It is surely the most irritating thing that I have come across. I don’t understand why it is not the other way round – only when you actually press the button does it activate the start stop. Can this be changed via software maybe?
2. Dip Stick. This for me is kind of a non-negotiable, and if I knew before hand there is no dip stick I would probably have reconsidered buying the vehicle. If there is one thing that I definitely want control over then it is checking the oil, a dip stick cannot fail, electronics can. And even if the dip stick breaks for whatever reason, then you KNOW the dip stick is broken, replace the thing. I really do not understand the reasoning here. Yes, measure it electronically if you want BMW, but give us back the dip stick as a backup.

Anyone else?

1. Yes you can deactivate the stop/start function using Carly. Maybe a fanatic close to you can assist. Takes a few minutes.

2. I am glad the X3 F25 has a dipstick and the electronic monitor. Are you sure your car does not have a stick?

Thought someone took pics of my F25, identical.

You made the right choice bud, these cars are awesome (3.0d)

Wishing you many happy miles. I have never had an issue with electronic oil level checking since it’s been accurate in all my cars, X5 I sold used to drop oil levels and I could monitor weekly, was pretty accurate.....I think you might have to get used to that.

Can't go wrong with the 3.0d engine.
Loved my ex-330d, great mix of power and efficiency.

I can assist you with the deactivating of the auto-start-stop.
