Hello and welcome
Being from Botswana are you going to get the Japanese imports? I have had buddies with a few I must say those Japs are not bad at all. Mileage is usually low and all round condition of these cars is not bad.
The Japanese ones are hard to find as well. I have been in contact with a number of dealers and individual importers but nothing is coming up. BeForward.jp does not have any as well.
The ever elusive 330!
Take a drive to Beitbridge Boarder Post and you will see tonnes of them covering the ground. Not sure if there are 330i there but its worth a short.
My only concern with them is they would have been on a ship for 3 months or so then they land in Durban then another month for them to get to Limpopo and they are parked for who knows how long there with all that dust and rats etc and that is not factoring in how long they had been parked in Japan before they were shipped.
The amount of work required to get it running plus the costs involved in buying it and import costs might just equate to browsing Gumtree or Auto trader. I am not saying the ones from Auto trader are trouble free but hmmmmm
Real life example:
Had a buddy that bought a Golf MKV GT (yes GT not GTi) from Durban shipping yard. Car had been there for 6 months, paid R42k for the car including shipping to Mpumalanga were a mechanic charged just over R30k to get the car roadworthy including tires etc then it went into Swaziland for it registration before it came back to SA. Total costs for everything came to around +- R100k which is slightly cheaper than buying it in SA but we cannot account for the costs of running around getting it sorted and registered. :dunnoanymore:
EDIT: We never actually got the GT in SA the comparison was to an equivalent 2.0FSI
