Hi all. I am new to the forum and this website, I am still trying to find my way around. I have had various Beemers, 2 X 316i back in the day a 318i and 2 x 323i. None of these were performance machines. I have now taken ownership of a 2013 F30 330d. Wow, what have I being missing all this time hence me joining the forum. Obviously as a new member i have questions and I bet somewhere on the forum they have been covered, I just don't know where to look. Can i ask on this thread here or where would a better thread be to ask or do a search? Looking forward to learning more about this amazing vehicle.

Welcome and congrats with the new car. :bravo:

1. You can start by posting pix of your new ride.
2. Yes you can ask your questions in this thread until you get more use to the forum layout.

I hope i got that right.

I have a few questions, what options are there to upgrade the standard sound system, is it possible to change the speakers to better specced one's or do you have to install an amp then is third party software / chipping worthwhile? Does this affect the cars reliability and cause damage long-term? My car seems to have little niggley rattles in the doors and another F30 owner told me his is the same, anyone else with this problem and if so how is it fixable. Is it safe to use the Eco mode in traffic or is that more for highway cruising or is it generally a bad idea? Thanks in advance.

I have the HK sound system in my car, I'm assuming you have the standard system with no tweeters on the front doors? It can be improved with better speakers that replace the stock ones under the front seats, there are multiple aftermarket options

With regarding to chipping/software, if you car is still on motor-plan then it's a risk you take because if the dealer detects it then you will lose your plan... The two options that do work is the Race Chip (Rennzport is an official Race Chip Dealer) or flash tune/software (if you are going with this option I would recommend Xcede or RK Motion)... Software and downpipe is the way to go on these cars....

The squeaks are creaks are unfortunately a common issues on the F30 and is caused by the window rubbers that need to be lubed as well as the outside window trim that needs some sort of tape to be applied on the inner of the trim or in some cases the dealer will replace the trim... Wind noises are something you will have the live with due to the enormous side mirrors...

The eco-pro mode is for town driving, it makes absolutely no difference on the freeway...

Lastly, is your car still on plan and what is the mileage?

Welcome to the forum mate, lovely car you have there.
From my experience with EcoPro I reaped more benefits using it on highway driving and not really in town driving.
Others might say something different, but yeah that’s my experience with it (was on a 320i though).

Ok, i found speaker housings in the floorboard under the seat, i had previously looked if they were attached to the seat, bit dof there. I am now looking for other speaker placements in the operators manual and can't seem to find it. how many speakers in total would a standard car have, where are they and what type of speaker eg. woofers mid tweeters etc?
