Try www.drivesure.co.za , they in CT.

...mobile service.

Should be able to help you.

Stealers are a ripp-off as usual.
Some of my clients claimed on their insurance for keys and remotes and sometimes the stealers want to replace the whole CU of the vehicle, thus leaving us with high claim records and most insured clients coming far short as the standard cover is mostly around a maximum of about R2000 for this kind of loss. Then most clients still needs to pay their excess on the claim.

The guys at drivesure seriously does the job for a fraction and they are mobile!!

Maybe worth it??

OK!! Back from Cape Town and Plett! I took the risk and left for Cape Town with a semi-working key... BUT THANKS TO JAMES!! James, you RULE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE TO THIS THREAD IT SAVED ME CASH!! I owe you a drink! :)

I contacted the owner of DRivesure, Siraaj Salie, and he was very helpful and the next morning early I went to his place in Northpine. It wasn't even 30 mins and I had a spanking new key for R1200 and a fixed key for R450 !! Shit man and the Stealers were telling me LOOOONG stories of how I CANNOT get a new key if the key was totally damaged and that I would have to get a whole new lockset and bla bla blaaaa :cursin: THey COULD get a new key but they would have to ORDER it first (wtf???) and it would take 4-7 days!

Well.. Siraaj sorted me out in 30 minutes for KLEINGELD!

So ja..... if you have ANY key problems call Siraaj on 082 926 8355. You WILL smile! And GOOD news! If you are not in Cape TOwn they offer a fast postal service as well.

Hi Guys...

Ok.... a KEY issue.. again!

Yesterday climbed out of the car, opened the boot and closed it and when I pressed the button to lock/activate ........ NOTHING!

I tried again and again ysterday and today but the car refuses to respond to lock, unlock or open boot. It STARTS the car though (and it locks/unlocks MANUALLY)

What do you guys reckon is the problem here?!?:dunno:

We had to have our centrol locking control unit thingy replaced the other day due to intermittent failure..

Probably just a battery. The key will manually lock and unlock doors, and start the car with a flat battery.

my key is like 11 years old and still works lol.

although, just about a week ago it started giving me trouble for the first time, didn't want to lock, only unlock. just left it in the ignition for a while to charge and it was fine.
it did it once more and none of the buttons wanted to work .. but it came right again after a drive ..

I think its time to repack that battery .. need to get some new keys neways.

I've got a solution for this one DeKock!

Ok... do the following.. You might have to do it a couple of times because it kinda needs to be done in a sistematic sequence so don't bang the steering wheel like I did after first 2 times failure!!:) I had the EXACT problem you are having - with my 540 AND my 535. (Urm... your 540 is E39??? Dunno if it will work with other platforms)

(Lesson 1 - NEVER EVER "play around" with your keys' buttons around your car because you might just have a problem afterwards with the locking system! BELIEVE it!)

1) Sit in your car and make sure the radio and lights are OFF. Doors and windows CLOSED.
2) Open the driver's door.
3) Close the drivers's door and put the key in the ignition and turn the IGNITION on. The rooflight will now be on.
4) When the rooflight dies count about 6 seconds then take the key out and press the unlock button and KEEP it in while doing the following in nr 5!
5) Push the lock button 3 times for about a full second and after the third time let go of the lock and unlock buttons at the same time!
6) CLICK-CLICK-CLICK!! is what you should hear and your locksystem should now be "reset".

This is all assuming that your key's battery is working and that it transmits a signal. But TRY this... very good chance it's just the system that's bit deurmekaar!
