Riaans (build 03/2003) car has 11,5 to 1 compression ratio.

I have verified with piston part numbers as well as BMW SA diagnostics system.

So is it not governed? But I checked all the CSL part numbers too, only the cams are different.

I can confirm that the limiter is indeed not present.

The exhaust valves are also different between the M3 and the CSL.

BTW - my previous e46 M3 does show the S858A - low compression Engine option.

Bumping this thread and derailing it slightly as I was doing some research tonight.

The "S858A Low compression" Still bugs me.

Obvious question to ask is what does the car's ECU do when it detects bad fuel. It has knock sensors to adjust ignition timing as well as vanos for camshaft timing.

So I'm hoping it is limited to software changes only. Possibly camshaft timing set up differently from factory.

Also nice to note that "Riaans" car is 11.5 :)

I also checked and "Riaans" car has the older cams :(
