ok...so after my last booking I had my diff on my 2006 E90 320d steptronic changed on MP...apparantly bearings were gone...so today I had a look see under and took the part number down.. its 33107566218 and has I=2.56 (anyone know what 'I' means?)...thing is on RealOEM the part number for the auto gearbox diff is 33107591023 with I=3.15...the vibration damper always has looked like the one on this diff...even before they replaced it (part no. 33176773707)...so now im a lil confused...decided to check cos ever since they did it feels like the car gets less wheel spin than the old diff..I now asked the service advisor to e-mail the part they put in according to the job card..and just waitin for his reply...any help here?...coz I hope they didn put something wrong on...

I looks like they may have changed the ratio on the diff. from 3.15 to 2.56. this means car will be a little slower, but faster on top end and will have better fuel economy.

just my thought, might b wrong

yeah car does feel slightly slower from robot to robot...maybe I should complain cos that diff seems like it's from the manual

tell them they have to put the right ratio back... alot of testing is done to determine the right ratio for a car and this longer one will make your car slower and will most probably also increase fuel consumption in town...

they give such hassles on MP should you mod your car in any way then they go and fit the wrong part to your car :thumbdo:

yeah...sheez...tomorro im gonna phone parts and if bmw SA's parts match the parts on real-oem..im jus gonna go straight to the dealer principle...this is rubbish...they kept my car for a week wen it went in...you buy the car for the way it drives..not to feel different down the line..could the lower diff ratio make the car feel smoother?...cos it jus feels like smoother and more tame...my backs dont have the best tread right now..so i was surprised wen my car couldn wheel spin them..even on up hills..thot mayb my old diff was jus realy effed but now..i donno:argh:...feel soo irritated...rely who has time to keep runnin after BM like this...was done at Northcliff auto..anyone had probs there?

well a fixed diff will feel smoother than a broken one :)

the whole point of MP is convenience and knowing your car is taken care of... BMW seem to be failing big time...

I agree fully here, you bought the car for what it feels like, now they change it for the worse...

go talk and here the story, theres always two sides, maybe they screwed up and now to make up they will give you the performance package:rollsmile:

what happened here is they put in the diff ratio for the manual... i can see how that could happen... hopefully they fix it and you have no more problems :)

the scary thing is what other wrong parts to they fit by accident :fencelook:

thought id jus update here...so spoke to the dealer principle who I believe must have had harsh words for the service dept...very soon after got a call from the service manager who booked me in and ordered the correct diff..Will hopefully be giving my car in next week wen the diff arrives :)...will update again about that..but +2 points for their swift response..don't think the service manager knows how the mistake happened..

decided to further my cause at the same time regarding other probs which Iv been complaining about and theyv done nothing since, being the rattle from either the actuator arm for the wastegate or the swirl flaps cld have a rattle in the intake manifold...there is slight rev fluttering on cold idle tho..Manager assures me they will check properly..I will tell him to open the intake manifold manually..after all they got nothing to lose..MP pays labour..

was looking at last invoice, diff costs around 22k fitted...lol thank goodness I picked this prob up...:thumbdo:...

Thanks again Psymon69 and moranor:ty:

thot Id update here..so got my car back today (gave it in thursday morning) and feels better than ever..powers back :)...diff was done..the reason for it was apparantly the mech who told the parts guys to order made a mistake and thought twas a manual..lol according to the service advisor the dealer principle rely got the managers and workshop to pull their socks up and the car was dealt with by management..was done with other faults in 2 days..
they opened up my EGR and checked it..did some software and diagnostics..all feels good so far..so +2 again for making the effort to get things right..(something we have seen lately on this forum as failures from some dealerships)..management and the dealer principle get a big thumbs up for pulling thru  and it's funny how nice service advisors are wen they know ul actually get them into kak ;) lol..

Thanks again for the help guyz :ty:
