New BMW Power Kit

I just got my N55 135i coupe back today and had the BMW Power Kit fitted by BMW Clearwater with only 2500 kms on the clock.

The power difference is hugely noticeable and delivery is so smooth. Lag is minimal-it feels as though the torque band is reached far quicker.

The best part: Motorplan covers this mod and the hardware install definitely helps to cool down things quicker under the hood.

The bad part: its rather pricey but I believe the way to go.

The service from Clearwater was also great.:clap:

The installation took 2 days.

Programming the ECU took a good few hours, due to couple of snags with BMW Germany and its also clean wipe of the ECU-not only is the new map re-written but the whole diagnostic and operational part of the ECU is re-written. I imagine this is because of the new hardware that is added: radiator, fan etc.

A courtesy car was supplied kindly by the dealership.

Price: please contact various dealerships as it does vary between R20-R30k.

In conclusion, I know that 3rd party software is far cheaper and that they deliver more power but Motorplan remaining intact is a personal plus factor for me.

Next mod: BMW performance exhaust system.

BMW replaces cooling fan with a 900w fan and new control box. A smaller radiator is placed under the left front fender with ducting and new piping. Front bumper and light has to be removed for this part installation. ECU is remapped directly from Germany online. Your VIN number etc. is sent to them first, confirmed and a new map and control part of the ECU is flashed.

First impression of the Power Kit are spectacular. Acceleration improved, of coarse.
Especially around 4000 RPM its amazing how violent it retakes.
And a great benefit is the increased cooling.
