New American car owner here!

Hi all,

I just moved from NYC to South Africa for a few years. I just bought a BMW 320d Sport pack and this is in fact the first car I've ever owned. Who would have thought it would be in South Africa of all places? Anyone that's visited NYC knows a car is 100% unnecessary. In fact it costs about 500$ a month just to park a car in your apartment complex!

Anyway, South Africa has been treating me pretty well so far and it's an easy adjustment for me. Only gripe is that the pace of life is slow as a snail in Sandton where I live. But I'm actually starting to enjoy driving now that I bought this car and hopefully things go well with it!

Hi Bud,

Welcome to the forum. I am sure that you are going to enjoy every bit of SA.
I have been to NYC and i have to agree with you, it doesn't make sense having a car there.

Post pictures of your car as we Love pictures here.

Welcome, firstly, to the forum
And secondly, to South Africa

Great choice of car, and glad you're enjoying her. Here in SA, a car is absolutely necessary. Don't worry about parking, most of it is free

Welcome bud

You should visit Cape Town. If Sandton pace is slow as a snail, a typical busy day in Cape Town will feel like a holiday.

Welcome to SA!! Welcome to the forum!!!

Sadly, Sandton is probably as fast pased as SA gets.

As someone who lives in Johannesburg and loves it, YOU MUST VISIT CAPE TOWN!!!

Its is awesome, very beautiful, very laid back.
And if you ask the folks on the forum, they can direct you to some of the most gorgeous roads in the country
