New 135i Owner

Hey guys,

I am the proud new owner of a 2010 N54 135i Coupe (6MT) and looking for a bit of advice on the performance and maintenance aspects of x35i ownership!

I've started off by getting a carbon clean done which was money well spent as the car feels a bit fresher now. (its got 73 000kms)

The car is still under plan which has been extended until April 2016, and can be extended for another year for about R16k. Do you think this is a worthwhile investment, (assuming I can keep the mileage under the 100k mark). Or would I be better off putting that R16k aside for any possible maintenance issues?

In terms of performance, I'm a pretty chilled driver but like the idea of a bit more power, and so I'm considering a software upgrade. Is the JB4 a no-brainer, or should I consider a "normal" software upgrade due to the fact that I'm not planning on doing any further mods.

Any advice/opinions welcome!

congrats :clapper:

if you are considering extending your plan , i have done mine through a company called innovation-group 100% cover exactly the same as bmw's motorplan and works out to about R430 per month.:cartel:

Where can we read up more on this? Sounds a bit too good to be true.

To the OP, if the above is in fact accurate, go for that. If not, extend MP. You don't want an x35i out of MP.

Hi Deadbeat

Congrats on an awesome ride bro. I've had my N54 135i for about two years now and I absolutely love her!!! :blowheart:. I bought it in a very similar situation that you are describing now.

Mine is a 2008 model, it was just about 5 years old when I bought it. BMW extended the M-plan for a year and after that I was given a R17k option to extend it. I went the other route of banking the R17k for a rainy day. I ended up spending almost, but not quite R17k in that year anyway. I think it might be worth wile to extend the M-plan.

I have no experience with these 3rd party plans but if they are legit that sounds like an awesome option.

Also depends on what kind of mileage you plan on doing... If you're only going to do 5000km in a year I would definitely pocket the money.

JB is an great option, was my first mod after carbon clean.

Anyway that's just my two cents. I wish you many happy km's!!!

Enjoy her!!

Congrats, great looking car.

I've got the extended warranty thingy also from innovation. I paid R10k for 2 years as I could not extended BMW motorplan anymore (7 years is max). The BMW motorplan covers EVERYTHING except tires. Warranty cover failures of major items, no servicing etc. For R16k I would 100% go for the BMW MP.
Only downside to MP is modding and if your only going to do JB4 or software that should not be too much of a hassle.

DO SOFTWARE! JB4 or anything, its actually stupid how much it improves the car.

Hi Girevik77,

Thanks for the advice bud. Got a lot to think about, will see how it goes but will probably end up extending it at the last minute. I suppose I've got until April 2016 to make that decision.

All the best!
