Need to replace e46 330 tyres

Hi guys, looking for some tyre advice.

I'm currently using Continental Sport Contact 3, can you guys recommend any better brands within this price range or should I just stick with Contis?

Also what mileage do you guys generally get on a new set of tyres? My current set is on about 50k kms

Go with Michelin PS3's, they are well priced for the E46 in 17" and they have excellent wet and dry grip.

Except they soft so they wear quick if you are agressive behind the wheel...

But the grip... been around corners in a 330i with them at scary speeds and it just gripped

They are not overly soft IMO. Not everyone drives crazy all the time, then they last quite long.

Besides it is not a bakkie, who cares about tire life. :rollsmile:

I think Conti's are probably your best bet at keeping the cost low. I have michelin PS3s and they are more expensive than the corresponding Contis. Very happy with them.

I just replaced my rears with conti SC3's. Can't fault them. Excellent grip and about R400-500 cheaper than PS3's. We were actually discussing tyre options for my car in my showroom thread. Check it out it out and it may help you to make a decison.

When you get wheel alignment done, I would advise taking your car to bmw or a place that bmw recommends. The place where I bought my tyres from screwed up my wheel alignment and my car was all over the place when driving on the highway. The alignment settings on a 330i are different to a normal 3 series. The guys who did my alignment properly said that the settings are similar to an M3 where it requires a slight negative cambre.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 are still the best tyres out there for the money. They handle standing water exceptionally well, and the overall grip is brilliant.

CS3 and PS3 aren't bad either, but I was finding better reviews on the Goodyears.

Toyo T1-R if you can still find them or T1-Sport.
Had PS3's on my ex 330i and I have Conti SC3 on my 325i. Michelin PilotSport on the 1M. All excellent tyres in my opinion. If you really want excellent grip go for Michelin Pilot Super Sport. And don't go with a budget.:fencelook:

These "name" brands will out perform your tires any day of the week. It doesn't work if you have one of the best handling saloons but you buy crap tires. These brands have a reputation built on fantastic handling and not on supplying cheap tires.

In the limited brands that South Africa was exposed to for the last 50 years there was only a handful that existed, Michelin, bridgestone Firestone and continental..unfortunately we are mind washed to these brands and believe it to be the best and everything else is kaka.. Roll in the hankook, toyo,falken, nankang, and a few others...now these are tyres that are substantially better or equal to the SA house brands that we buy... Its just that our exposure to them has been limited so we react negatively and easily call them crap...

Make your own descision based on value for money and good quantitative reviews from fellow fanatics, I also use the ffg website for reviews..

Says who, you! Have you tried Falkens? I know I have and know quiet a few people that have hot hatches that are rolling around on them (these are guys that race).

Because Falken doesnt have a big name on in your eyes doesnt mean they crap.
