Hi guys, today i got a scare of my life, on the way home I heard like a big exhaust leak sound, I drove it home, must be honest I was driving fast before the sound started,

Got home and opened the bonnet everything was black of smoke, first thought was turbo blew, after stripping and investigating discovered the egr pipe is broken,

Can this be repaired if yes where,
If not how much to replace,
Could I have caused engine damage by driving it fast with this leaking,
If yes how can I check,

dont stress you dont need the egr. just go to an exhaust shop and get both ends welded shut:thumbs:

Thx Nikhil, its pipe that fits into the exhaust, I think the whole unit is called egr chamber,
The pipe near the turbo,

only damage you could have maybe done is that the hot exhaust gasses melted stuff around it.. if thats cool then no worries.

just replace the pipe or like nik says now might be the time for that egr block/bypass..

Don't stressIts not required and used by vehicle manufacturers to reduce emissions, get it welded shut (plate inserted on the exhaust side) not sure if you will need some form of remap to stop codes being thrown once it's closed up.

If I'm not mistaken cliftons had promotec software. I would think this was cause by the valve being shut the whole time as it would be off in software. Either replace it or have it welded shut where it starts.

Pic not loading but you get what I am talking about, oh and yes it melted the water pump housing, not leaking but will replace the housing for peace of mind and safety, thats easy to do, I changed water pump previously so will do that, just need to price, I will take the pipe to some places, but because of that spring thing I doubt I can weld it,

Do they sell just that pipe or the whole chamber thing,

Guys thank you so much for replying, I really appreciate it, really, thanks,

Thanks, you know I asked this once about the egr valve shut whats happens with the pressure, my guess is that this pipe couldnt handle the pressure, but vibrations also played a part,

Now if I weld it shut at the manifold, I will then have to block the inlet water piper for the egr themostat and the exit water pipe from the egr chamber,

I would prefer to rather fix it, but I would never want this to happen again as now I have to change water pump housing,

I dont know as yet, but taking the parts tomorrow to some welding places, lets see,

 just feel really down, hasn't been my month, expenses,
Lights and water sent me a bill for 21000 yip, called them they giving me problems,
Went to license department, costed 1600 for disc plus a coo, and still need to do road worthy, the focus I bought needed a speed sensor plus themostat housing 1400
Now this,
But it happens, will deal with it, lol
Hope I find a solution tomorrow, will try couple scap yards also, if not, will weld it shut,

Oh can it be possible that all 4 glow plugs are not working on my car, it starts on the turn even if its cold.

Hi, took it to a welding place, they braced it, did a nicejob, I cut the egr, fitted round blanks, braced that also to seal it, covered it with pratley putty as a second measure, everything put back, seems like everything is fine now, bled the system, fan comes on,
Total cost 300, not bad,
