Good morning from a wet Cape Town.

I am in need of some help please

What is the service interval of timing chain or when must it be replaced and have any body ever hade problems with timing chain on BMW E46 320d 2003 model.

Is there some body who works at BMW who could maybe check service history on vehicle for me.

Please help will be appreciated

In joy your day guys

I stand to be corrected, I think the Timing chain is a life time thing.

E90 lci 320d has a known timing chain problem. If you want the history. Call bmw with the vin. If they won't give it to you over the phone take the key to them.

Its lifetime. Perhaps at higher mileage the tensioner might need replacing, but thats about it
Define lifetime.

In Japan lifetime is roughly 60 000km

Timming chains and gears wear out and at roughly 2000 000 they should be considered as "end of life", now given the extended oil service intervals I doubt they will be accurate at 200K kms.
