Need help between a 2010 325i and 330d 2011

Hi fellow fanatics

I need some advise please.

Currently I drive a 2011 2.0d x3 M sport pack.

She is a beauty, but what bothers me is the fact that she is heavy on juice and doesnt give that sheer driving pleasure like my previous cars.

Hence I was thinking about changing to a 325i coupe, or the 330d. Both will have sport packs.

I do drive a fair bit, I live in the western cape and will occasionally go camping. (Thats why I bought the x3 originally, but I dont really use it).

Could you guys give me some input on what you would do, prefer.

Oh, I am not married nor kids. I do have the occasional girlfriend sitting next to me.

Depending on the mileage, i say 330d, Its a newer model, better power and fuel consumption is great. Yes the coupe looks great, but I would go with the 330d

What would be the ultimate reason for you to take the 325i Coupe - it's a V6 petrol...so if you're concerned about fuel, then I would suggest the 330d, it's also a V6 but diesel...you will enjoy the power and torque and moderate use of fuel + it's a four door car. The coupe might be an issue if you have young kids.

My advice, go for the 330d.

Thanks for the replies so far.

A major issue is fuel consumption for me, hence the idea of swopping the X3.

I was keen for the coupe as I have got no kids, so I thought "a 2 door wouldnt kill me".

I know there is a big difference between petrol and diesel. I have been a diesel boytjie forever.

Another follow up question,

330d m-sport pack vs new shape X3 m-sport pack.

Would I be downgrading if I swop the x3 for the 330d?

Point to consider, as good as the 330d is, it is only available in 4door sedan form. Considering how much of sedans where sold, and how many on the road, do you value a bit of uniqueness/sportiness/looks in the coupe over the performance/economy of 330d?

Ahhh decisions decisions decisions...........:flyfun:

Lol, I don't think any BMW fanatic will ever accept the idea of a V6 bimmer.

I vote 330d. Actually, I think I would even take a 330d without a sports package over a 325i with a sports package.

If you could get a 330i coupe, you'd be sorted

Since you're looking at economy, it's a whole different story. What is your current average consumption on the X3? The 330d isn't to far from the 10l/100km area.

The 325i's consumption will make you want to puke compared to a X3 2.0d, trust me. I had a 330d pre LCI, awesome car,! Now have a 330i LCI and there's a huuuuge difference in consumption in everyday driving. The 325i is similar in consumption to the 330i, if not even worse. I love the 330i for reasons of my own. You could not have averaged much worse than 8-9l / 100km on the X3. The 330d will give you about 6 - 7 l/ 100km on combined cycle while you'll struggle to get the 325i below 11-12l/100km on a combined cycle.

If you want space AND nice consumption go for any diesel X3, if your main priority is fun and consumption go for any E90 diesel or even F30 diesel if it suits your budget. The pre LCI E90 330d's are awesome and fairly bulletproof, but the LCI 330d's are the beez knees! Go for one with a fair bit of m/plan left and you're sorted. The ride on the LCI m-sport models are also a vast improvement on the pre-LCI models, which was VERY uncomfortable and "crashy" on uneven surfaces.

325i suck on consumption start stop around 14-15l/100km

get a 330d more power, more torque, and less fuel

no brainer
