Hi guys i have a 2004 320D ive had it for about 6 months now and never had any problems untill yesterday.

I started it and realised it was a bit reluctant to start for a second or 2. It then ran fine for about a km where i notice a small bit if smoke coming from the bonnet, it then had a bad idle and sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders, i switched it off and checked for any lose pipes or hoses but nothing. Started it up again and was reluctant yet again. I drove it back home and could feel the power getting weaker by every meter i traveled i managed to make it home but right now it starts after a few seconds and as soon as i take off it stalls with a lot of black smoke coming out the rear. Also the accelerator is not responsive at times, turbo is fine,. Any suggestions? Its at my mech now and he said he has never seen this before.
Advice will be greatly appreciated

It sounds like a dead spark plug "i know diesels doesn not have plugs" and its the same as a vehicle running low on fuel. I have a fsh on the vehicle and the day before o traveled from jhb to durban no problems what so ever. Could it be a bad injector?

Is the turbo pissing out oil into the intake?

Check intercooler. Make sure its not full of oil.

Injectors could be faulty but I dont know exactly what faulty injectors do. Sometime they puff out alot of black smoke if leaking. Perhaps have the codes read. It can point you in the right direction insted of guessing.

If its headgasket with this symptom you should see signs of water in oil or pressure in cooling system. Which diagnostics tool did you use? Some of them dont give all the codes.
