Somewhere around this box there's a stepper motor or something similar, as soon as the engine started you hear this motor and a few seconds after the engine is switched off you can hear it again. Now it needs a service and I can't find it. It makes a noise that says the gears are dry. Where is this thing located? :dunno:

Calling Rick, please report to this thread at your earliest convenience.

Sorry Gerhard, can't help you. All I know is that my ecu is situated in that box.

Are you sure you are not being messed around by your climate control/air flap motors. I think there is about 6 or 7 of them inside your car.

I cannot for the life of me think where a stepper motor is in that location.

The other common motor issue is on the lights adjustment, but thats clearly from the front.

If the noise is coming from there then it's the cooling fan for the E-Box. (under all those modules inside the thing)

You can get to it from under the dash inside the car above the acellerator pedal.

Thanks guys.

I know thats the ECU box and opened it yesterday to see if I can find the motor, but couldn't find anything. I also had the idea of a vent motor or something. The noise comes from around there.

I need to fix the cluster any case now because of the speedo not working properly, so stripping the dash is a must now. Then stripping out the roofliner is must and now is a real good time, all 3 the wife's ventures are now quiet and I am doing shifts and the f*&#@ing battery is flat again.

And there we have a new problem to add to the list, burning rubber smell from the engine as soon as the car is started. In the last 2 days more problems popped up than what I can handle. I am seriously thinking of selling now.
