Need advice...?

So, as many of you know, I have been debating getting a 5 series for some time now.

Missed out on a 535d at a steal, where someone else bought cash, and I needed to finance. Cash is king so I lost out.

Given the fuel price increase and the price in general on the F10s, I have decided to stick with a 520d, which shares the same engine in my current 320d.

Now here's the question:
Found a brand new 520d with the basic extras I am looking for at 535k. The car will be registered in 2014. The trick though is that the MP is active from July as it was what they call a "preload", apparently so they could depreciate the car.

The guy is offering me a decent trade-in on my car with a competitive 535k on the new one. My only concern is the 5/6 months I have lost on the MP.

What do you guys think? I would love to hear from any dealership chaps as well. Does the price justify the Loss of MP time? Should I ask the dealer to extend by a year at their cost? Is that even something they would consider?

Or will they just tell me that the price is meant to counteract the loss of MP time and that's the best they can do?

Your thoughts and opinions are what I am after here please. Can we also not get into a 520d vs a 530d tantrum please.

Thanks in advance.

I'd already formulated my 520d vs 530d reply :roflol:

No, but in all seriousness, they're great cars... 5 months off MP for me wouldnt be the biggest deal... I guess its down to how much mileage you do/how long you intend on keeping the car?

IF the price is that great, take it

Trade it in right before motorplan expires :fencelook:

Do about 12/15 000 km per year.
Intend on keeping this one past the 100000km mark, so I will probably extend the MP to 120000km closer to the time.

How would the 5 months affect the car when it's time to sell should I not keep it past the 100000kms?

take it, time extension is cheap, and you getting it at a cheaper price, so should play off against what you will get when you sell.

Just get them to extend the M/P to 6 years 100 000km upfront.
To be honest I will not buy a new BMW, but that's me.

Not buying a new BMW is one of my policies as well, however, in this case, the brand new one is cheaper than what I have been able to find used ones for.

This is the only reason I am considering it.

Then I think you have answered your question yourself. If you were considering a used one it has already lost a few months of MP:idea: now you getting a Brand new BMW with a few months lost on MP for Cheaper than a Used one makes sense

True true.

managed to arm twist the dealer into paying for extension of the motorplan by another year. As the motorplan was active 6 months ago, they will pay half of the price of extending for a full year.
