- definitely go for a 325, 328 or 330 if you can.
- stay far away from a 318 and a modified 320
- be careful of automatic gearboxes
please make sure to have the car inspected by someone who knows about e46's before you buy..because they will be a money pit if you get a lemon.
if there any signs of previous overheating or gearbox faults (if an auto), just walk away and dont look back.
e46's are documented extremely well online. and they seem to fail "reliably" in the sense that if you dont change part X, it WILL go by 1xx,000 kms.
