Hi guys

Got this car for a about 4 - 5 months now and decided to do a thread about it.

2008 e92 335 auto wish I could get a dct and sports pack.. anyway compared to my previous car the 325ci this car is whole new league I loved the m54 but damn the n54 is something else. Car has some decent power.

This car is in general good condition inside with a few scuffs and niggles on the bumpers one of which I done in the 1st few weeks lol.

Ever since I got my ci I kept yearning for more power I needed something with boost and my search began about a year back and every time i thought I found the right one it got sold.. So when I actually gave up I found one that ticked all the boxes for me. I knew what to expect when I bought the n54 it comes with all other quirks and the common n54 issues but I still wanted it. And it showed a few days after ownership haha one coil pack decided to pack up so changed that and a set of plugs then the next weekend the serpentine belt decided it had enough.. luckily I was just parking when it happened..

I knew that it had an oil leak but never realized it was so bad when was changing the belt got to see how bad my oil leaks was. Really bad leak from the ofhg and oil cooler gasket. Got that sorted. Car still stock for now. Did an oil change last week car running good so far.

work that I've done so far

- Oil cooler lines & OFHG
- Valve cover gasket
- Vanos solenoids
- New battery
- 2x new coil packs
- Service (oil & plugs)
- DCI's
- Muffler delete

seems now all my oil leaks has stopped and no more oil stains :tiptoe:
I even thought my injector was packing up meantime it was just a coil pack lol :roflol: I think i should just replace the rest of them.

Work planned to do :

- Gearbox service ZF
- Suspension refresh
- Carbon clean
- Silicone Vacuum lines
- Charge pipe with BOV
- Down pipes
- some mHD & jb4 when funds allow
- Msport rear bumper

Really starting to love this car but still miss my ci  wish i could've kept both.

I will update this thread as I go along.

advice and ideas welcome

Thanks for looking

Will post pics up soon.

So not much to update.. car is stuck had it towed home this weekend I had Christmas tree lights and everything was shutting down so just parked off and had it towed home. Car did this a month back and I replaced the battery and it was fine for a month and now did it again... so I think it could be the alternator read codes and an alternator code popped up can't remember the exact code. My mechanic will come have a look today..

Update

Car is now sorted after an alternator recon and new waterpump this has been an expensive week... waterpump was done at John and his team excellent work.

next up before renzport dyno day i want to change my other 4 coils and will just throw in some new plugs. hopefully this will cure my random cylinder 5 misfire. if not I have half a set of injectors waiting to be fitted.

I completely lost trust in this car it has me on edge after this week. every time I drive it its like i'm waiting for PING!! and be left on the side of the road lol but hopefully all will be good now..

Glad you have the car sorted,
With any car, if there are big ticket items giving hassle, then it will be an expensive repair.

In my experience, positive out look helps :D

Ill see you at the dyno day Saturday for a meet and greet,

N54 motor is amazing but so damn temperamental :smashScreen:
After putting your new coils in make sure you reset and clear all the error codes. I hope your car runs good at the Dyno day, all the best!
