So the insurance company is called Kapara Insurance and the lady I deal with is Anna Ncobo. you can tell her Daniel refereed you or otherwise PM your details and I’ll ask her to contact you

Yes I have claimed from them before and it has been totally effortless. No running around getting 3/5 quotes and no fuss.
We claimed for our other car and it went to Greenstone autobody. Although it’s not on their list of approved panelbeaters there was no issues with me taking the car there.
Claim was approved and car went in for repairs within a week of the accident.

Note: I have everything with them all bundled into a single policy which also helps.
Household contents, Laptops, Cellphones and our Cars.

Had my car in for repairs after my wife had a small mishap and got it back on Friday.

No issues at all. Claim was dealt with very efficiently, rental delivered and repairs was done at Centurion Panel Beaters.

The lady at Naked even called my afterwards to make sure I was happy with the repairs and service from First Car insurance.

10 out of 10 for following up and being in constant communication.

So here's a question for everybody who is currently looking into Naked, or who is a policy holder. Do you know what they do with their "profits" and do you actually care?
Asking out of curiosity.

I'm looking into Naked, what they do with their profits, their business. As long as they provide good service and I get good value for what I have paid for, I couldn't care less what they do with their money. why be bother about someone's profit and what they do with it? :dunnoanymore:

I worded my question like that intentionally to see if people responding actually knew. They don't take any underwriting profit, it gets donated to charity and they only take a fixed fee. It's called Naked insurance because they're meant to be a transparent insurance company and not taking profit is part of that.

My experience has always been the same with insurers. Stick with a private broker with a good underwriter and stay away from any "telesure" companies that do mass advertising and recruiting.

But what works for some may not for others.

They dont cover cars that has been " tinkered" with....:eek:mgwaiting:

What exactly do they mean by tinkered? Downpipe? Software? Custom piping and intercooler? Can't you just say your car is Durban stock, boss.

LOL there is no option with the chat bot on the app to say Durban stock.

Currenly on dp and zorst.

I had a call a while ago from a 3de party maintance / service plan place and they asked if anything was done to the car.

Mentioned the above and they also said nope.

Planning to do software in March and s3 cooler in August ( a birthday present from me 2 me) :cthulhu:

*note i am with a broker through old mutual at the moment and they covered me with no issue.

I’ve joined Naked Insurance last week and all good so far and it saved me some money, I also used their road side assistance and all went well with no hassles... The only problem I have is that you can’t change the debit order date and the pause function is just so cool lol was wondering why I was getting refunded for the past 4 days.

R300 more expensive for the exact same coverage.

Funny thing is my policy is with Hollard, I just have a great broker.

By pause - you mean changing your cover from the usual to their 'parked off' state or whatever they call it?

This makes me concerned. Having experience in the finance industry with AI, I can tell you that this below is still a pipe dream. I foresee alot of claim issues with this type of setup. Rather wait for more guinea pigs to sign on and join after 2 years, when most of the kinks with AI are ironed out.

"We use automated AI rather than call centres or brokers to run and manage your policy, which costs us less and translates into lower premiums for you."

I have to eat humble pie.
I have been with them for a few months now.
Excellent service so far.
Paying R1,700 in total for both my cars with premium car hire (320i type rental) included.

I wanted to move to Naked, I got a quote and I would save about R300 a month (from Discovery) but they do not cover cars that have performance modifications that would give it more than a 5% performance increase. I asked them how they would know and they said the safest would be to have a before and after dyno test done...

My car has about 25% more power than stock, so there goes that idea

Another rave for Naked Insurance.
I am replacing one of my cars.
I used the app and the new cover was updated and confirmed in a minute.
I can even postdate the cover to start on date X on the new car and end on date Y on the old car.
No need for an inspection to be performed nor Tracker to be fitted, even though the new car is 7 years old and is a bit on the premium end.
All I still need to do is take a video of the car and a few pictures (all this can be done on the app).
I had a few questions and used the app to ask them.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that a human responded to my queries via email instead of an AI Bot.
It seems that their system routes higher grade queries to humans, while simpler queries are handled by bots.
The quote on the new car is also very competitive (maybe slightly higher than Auto and General, but I am willing to pay R100 more to not deal with call centres!)
