N63TU 650i Reliability

Hi there,

Considering buying an N63TU 650i with 100,000 on the clock. Its got a FSH, and am planning on taking an extended warranty.

I have no plans to maintain the car myself, so will have to find an RMI accredited servicing centre for services and maintenance.

Whats the views on this cars reliability?

Is this a car to avoid out of Motor Plan?

Thanks.

That is post the N63 recall I think, so all the bits should have been done on it.

Injectors, watch injectors....

That motor is a peach when its running properly, however when its not... life's gonna suck when you grow up..

Have you noticed the 2 dme's on it, what could possibly go wrong.

The N63 should make you want to not sleep at night, trust me I have one,

I do not know about the TU's though, I suggest hit the forums in the states and EU.

Thnks, have done a lot of reading on US forums. Was after some local experience.

The US sites were saying the TU is much better than it's predecessor, but still experienced some issues.

2 main computer boxes that control just the engine

Was thinking about this. The guys sure are using this motor in a lot of new cars. Even heard thar jaguar might be using it too..

It's a fantastic feeling motor. And if we are honest mine only gave me crap once, when the injectors failed

On the m5 , USA forums, there are bent Conrods. Seems frequent . Tuned though.
Is the m5 same or similar ?

From what I've read the M5 uses a S63 engine, which is similar to the N63; but different enough to not be able to compare the two in terms of reliability (or performance).

you can also speak to Shaun Singh at Tune Tech they have many x50i models lined up some for major issues and some for general servicing.
