N54 Water Pump Change

At what mileage did you change your water pump?

Did anyone here purchase those water pumps on gumtree for R4k-R5k?

My thermostat packed up and I am contemplating changing both in one go.

My water pump developed a fault at 115k km...the error if I remember correctly was a speed deviation fault.

Replaced both pump and thermo at the same time.

Makes sense to do both, but rather not with a part off Gumtree :fencelook:

IIRC correctly a buddy of mine's failed at similar mileage the 11x k kms mark ..

If they fail at that mileage then iam on borrowed time currently sitting on 120k km

Mine went on 80,000kms. Engine overheating light came on yellow, then red and power was reduce massively and had to pull over. You could hear the fan working super hard. Covered by MP (around R7000 it would have cost), then 3 weeks later the fan started making weird sounds. R10k fan replaced under MP.

Managed to get a new pump and thermostat for under 7k.

Mine went at 95k

Paid 6k

Goldwagen Centurion. 7K for the pump and thermostat. Should be just as good as OEM. My pump was still running strong. I just did not want to take a chance with my setup.

I had the same thing happen (N55) at 85000kms. Fan hasn't failed yet though. 14000kms still left on MP.
