n54 OEM Charge Pipe Dimensions required

Hi guys

Can anybody help me with the following:

What is the dimensions of the OEM charge pipe where it connects to the throttle body on the n54?

A colleague has fitment issues with a cobb charge pipe he recently purchased. It wont fit onto the throttle body no matter what weve tried.

We made the mistake of not measuring the stock vs aftermarket when both were off.

Its a pity because the cobb cp is actually a really nice quality part.

Ive searched the interwebs but cant find the dimensions/diameter I am looking for.

Thanks in advance

Hi.

I had same issue on my n54. The chargepipe wouldnt fit onto car no matter what I tried. My friends N54 ran exactly same type of pipe with no isssues.

Eventually removed the throttle butterfly and fitted the chargepipe off the car. Then reattached the throttle butterfly with chargepipe back onto car.

Or you can machine the chargepipe slightly to get it to fit.

I have read a few stories of these non fitting CPs. Not all CPs are the same.

Post a pic of where it does not fit...preferable a pic with the Cobb cp on your car.

There is an easier way to make it work...but one needs to picture it on your car.

The stock throttle body needs 80mm to clear.

Thanks for the response :ty:

I will ask him to give that a try. Was it difficult to remove the throttle butterfly and reinstall with it all attached? I would presume those 4 bolts holding the throttle butterfly would be a tight fit?

Non the less its still worth a shot! Thanks

Here is a pic of a reported Cobb cp where the user struggle to get it to fit.

Did you fit the C-clip to make sure it hooks in?

+1 doesnt look like the c clip was attached also check if the o ring was placed in the cp

Thanks Guys, that is the problem we are having. If you look closely, you will see that the charge pipe has not seated properly all the way. This in turn will not allow us to connect the c clip.

What I have found is the groove/ridge inside the charge pipe which the o-ring fits into is more pronounced than the oem pipe. This I believe is where it is continuously getting stuck/caught.

and thank you for all the replies, its really appreciated gents! :ty:
