N54 335i blown turbos: Advice needed

Sorry to hear all the crap.
The price they charged for the "recon" turbos was almost the same as 2 new turbos from BMW (yes these are also recon, but with BMW warranty. They look brand new).
Totally bullsht you spend all this cash and get your car back with a turbo rattle that wasn't there before.
As much as everyone talks sht about the N54, its the crap attached to the engine that fails. Unfortunately the turbos are too small on these cars and fail. Sucks they are so expensive to replace.
Hope you come right and find a good person to look after the car properly.

imagine paying almost the same amount again as its a labour intensive job. Engine must come out to access the turbos...old bush and flapper drilled out new solid ones pressed in then re install

I don't deny the fact that Mototechnik knows their stuff, but think this is the first time they are trying the fix. My intention was not to bash them or make them look bad, but to give a solution for something I paid over 25k to get done in December last year. It was not a cheap fix. Yes, the car had a lot of stuff that needed to be done, but I paid to have it all done.

Supply them with the rattle kit to install, they obviously know less than they led you to believe on the subject. You paid for the work already, they have to hold up their end and do the job properly.

The issue is you accepted it like that, now mototechnik think they have washed their hands of the issue...

I did not know better at the time unfortunately. Didn't even know that you needed a special kit at the time to repair the rattle. It was there from the onset when I got the car. Thought the turbo replacement/recon would have fixed it. Since then though, I have done a lot of research on the subject as there are mixed reviews on fixed even on the internet. What seems to be the best is the kit from TurboLab of America.

I did get feedback from a few places with pricing on how much it will cost to repair it. Will way my options after feedback from Kamal.

The problem with a new oem or recon oem turbos is the fact that the design will not change and the turbos will start rattling again.

Damn, R30k isn't cheap when you still have to factor in labour. But at least you will be making big power with the supporting mods($$$). Becomes expensive in the end and then you aren't covered by a warranty if they find the upgraded turbos. Depends what your goal with the car is.

They refuse to cover this rattle shit...I asked garage 808 just in general if they repair turbo rattle under warranty...said No warranty will honor such a claim as the rattle is not seen as "mechanical turbo failure"
Not even in a hurry to do DP's on my car due to fears of this

Rattle is a crap one. The n54 is such an awesome car. Only one small fault that BMW South Africa does not cover. Such a shame as America does cover it.

Shall wait and see. Anybody want to do a group buy of the repair kit? Getting them for a decent price and can get it shipped here for a very good price and it will be very quick.

Motorplan ended March this year. Glad they honored the warranty.

The turbos come with a 12 month warranty. You lucky it got noisy soon because once they our of warranty, then it is done at your expense. Happy they are fixing it for you.
