My week with Project Shift!!

Wsup everyone,

Spent an interesting week with Project Shift (Burgy and Tony 'the tiger') and also ran into Chris (Crash Nemisis). Let me say up front that these dudes are the coolest and I encourage forum members to check them out for all your beemer needs. Also had the good fortune to meet LZ in Boksburg, he is also the coolest dude.

So I decided screw OEM bushes, BMW rubber doesn't seem to agree with my stiffer lowered suspension (at least on my car), 3 month old LCABs are cracked already...so got a suspension pack through project shift with comprises:-

#Power Flex LCABs
#Power Flex RTABs
#Power Flex Rear Subframe Bushes
#Meyle HD swaybar links (front/rear)
#Bilstein front shock mounts

Also got C/F badges for boot/bonnet/wheels, Burgy built me an intake kit, and we detailed my car!

Had a bit of an issue finding someone to fit the suspension stuff but eventually went to Autoquip Centurion (yes THOSE guys...). They were only able to do the front as they only had half a day to work on the car. They even got me a pair of front Powerflex bumpstops free of charge! Tried to fit the rear swaybar links but they didn't fit, but Burgy's organising other ones so it's all good.

Car feels A LOT more solid and direct at the front, powerflex bushes are hard but not harsh. If you want comfort get an E38...I should probably upgrade the pirate tie-rods though :fencelook:
The car should feel great in the corners once everything else is fitted.

No pics yet :fencelook::fencelook:

Fit the Powerflex Subframe bushes (x4) and RTABs on Friday. You lose a little NVH but gain a feel of solidity and road-surface contact. It feels better than OEM, but on the other hand these bushes WOULD have to be better than OEMs with 170k mileage on them.
Most of us focus on the RTABs as things to look out for but we discovered that the Trailing Arm bushes are shot too, which would also explain some of that loosey feeling at the rear. So those are next, together with rear stabiliser endlinks which I've already bought from Burgy. :thumbs:
