My VW Golf R

Some small updates...

Was at Sportech this weekend for some mods. They installed my AEM WMI kit and loaded my fully loaded ECU with map switching.. This is one hell of a clean workshop!

The decision of where to tap the meth from was a difficult one but I opted for the tank in the boot instead of the washer bottle option.

Car still runs on an everyday 95 file but feels so happy with the WMI. Will do a switch to the 104 file when I have some good race fuel in the tank.

And then I got together with some good friends staying the area. My one bud Dan's Polo 6R GTI (Also APR Tuned) and Sven's Volvo C30 (K16 turbo and other goodies)

Gave the car a great detail and some care over the weekend... Here are the latest pics on her.

And even detailed the engine bay...

And with some of this NF, I decided to have some fun with the R too.

I mixed a can with 30 litres of fuel and also using my WMI should keep me running in the safe zone with my switched APR 104 Stage 2+ program.

After about 40kms of driving and adaption, I took this video. Sorry for the poor quality. The GF sat in the back holding the phone.

I time about just under 4 seconds which is incredible! I am hoping to get even better launching with a DSG flash and increased Launch Control.

Been a while...

Here are some more updates...

Went to Kyle from Concept Audio and Performance.

I bought a new APR High Pressure Fuel Pump and here he is installing it for me.

Removal of the old HPFP.

Would love to know what you paid for that APR fuel pump. Friend of mine has a Golf R and is looking at changing the HPFP as well. You don't have to answer if you don't want to and you can send me a PM if you choose. Thanks.

No problem bud.

The HPFP retails for R12.5k now with the exchange. I still bought that pump for R11.2k.

You can get away with an AutoTech pump for about R3.5 to R4K but the APR one is much milder on the Cam Follower. Does not wear the bucket out as quickly as the AutoTech one. I would say you should just check the Cam follower every 7500kms if you buy the AutoTech one. The APR ones have shown up to 20000kms of mileage on the followers so changing at 15000kms is safe.

To the rest, thanks for all the comments guys!

Much appreciated!! :ty:

Thanks for the info.
Have you done any timed runs on drag strip yet? 1/4 mile and or 1km? Would be interesting to see what times you post.
