My newly aquired E46 330i

So I got this car on Friday afternoon last week. Its a 2004 with full service history with the agents. and the car has been very well looked after, the pics speak for themselves.

It's a clean example of the 330i but needed a few bits here and there to complete it, So I ordered a Msport 6 speed gear knob, new bonnet sound proofing, clips for the right rear chrome window frame, a few clips for the carpet inside the boot.

I have taken it for a full valet but didn't allow them to clean my engine as they end up wetting the sound proofing and it wasn't cheap for that thing. So I cleaned the engine myself.

It had a bit of a sticky throttle response so I read somewhere that it could be due to a dirty throttle body so I took the entire induction system out, fixed a tiny crack in the rubber boot that connects to the idle control valve, and cleaned the throttle body with throttle body cleaner, also cleaned the MAF and cleaned all the rubber boots and then lined them with that silicone stuff then buffed it all. I also took the Disa valve out and cleaned that thoroughly and made sure it was in a good condition and its still like new, No play on the flap whatsoever and springs back into place perfectly, it was just very dirty.

I also Replaced the air filter as it was flipping disgusting.
I took the flap out the sunroof that lifts up when the sunroof is open to clean it and cleaned all around the sunroof railings etc so that is looking nice and clean too.

The car now drives very smoothly and that horrible jerky/sticky throttle response is gone.

Next on the agenda is to do the vanos seals and an oil change. The car idles so quietly its unbelievable so the vanos isn't making any noise whatsoever but the seals would be stuffed by now.

What I now need to do is clean the steering wheel with those magic sponges and Get gizmo to replace the sump gasket as it has a slight leak in it. unfortunately that's a big job and requires the suspension to be dropped.

I am currently getting 8.3L/100km - 8.6L/100km town driving and not quite sure what im getting on the highway will report back when I have had a bit of a highway run with it. one offramp to the next doesn't count.

The stock sound is shit, I will need a small 10inch in the boot at least to get at least some base. I have organized a set of stock xenon headlights and will get them next week sometime.

Let me know what your thoughts are so far.

She's in stunning condition from the looks of the pics! I've always had a soft spot for the e46 330i, especially that very first one that came out. Man alive did I want one of those!

I think you're going to have a lot of fun in this car! Every time you drop a cog or two and give the loud pedal a prod, you're going to have a smile a mile!

Many happy KM's!

Congratulations on your new purchase, by far the best daily drivers in the e46 stable! Looking forward to seeing her soon, while the car is here on the lift we together can give it a good look over to see what else may need replacement in the future.:blowheart:

Congrats on the purchase. The 330 was the funnest car I have owned.
Get yourself a clutch stop, it will give you faster shifts and make the clutch also feel beter whrn eliminating the play down under.

Then a 3.38 diff ratio, give gizmo a call, makes a world of a difference. Can't say what the 3.46 will feel like.

Then get yourself some tnt branches from moranor, you wouldn't believe the imlrovement on torque. But I went ahead and did a complete custom exhaust along with the branches.

And then get yourself some koni adjustable shocks from moranor. Set at their hardest the ride was softer than stock shocks, but the car sat on gravel like you wouldn't believe.

And then lets do software :D

Also remove the CDV. Car will feel beter with shifts. You will love it.

Diff is around 2500
Clutch stop around 200, but you can easily make your own.
Tnt branches was around 3000
Full exhaust was around 6000
Konis was around 10000
Software 3000
And CDV is free when you remove it yourself.

The diff will increase you fuel consumption by .1, but you will have tons of torque down low and 0-100 will improve drastically. However you will lose top end. Unless you are driving 250 a lot it shouldn't matter.
