My new tractor

Had some time on my hands last weekend so decided to get some maintenance done which I postponed for far to long.

The expansion tank had a hairline crack which was bothering me and the fuel filler needed to be replaced as I skipped it on my last service.

Out with the old.

In with the new

It was a fairly simple task to replace both but such a pain to remove and replace the fuel filter, more so on a lowered car.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I also replaced the e90 335 intercooler with the F30 335i cooler. The new cooler is lightly larger with revised inlets and outlets. The car now runs 1deg higher than ambient temp as to the previous 4deg.

I took the car for a dyno run on Saturday, happy with the power, for now....:cartel:

Congrats Ray on the car looking tops... time for some Rk peri peri?

How did you sort out the plumbing issue with the revised inlets and outlets on the F series cooler?

Epic that you got it to fit well done!

Tiny update, had an RK motion file loaded this past Saturday and have no words to describe how amazing the car feels. It is just so damn responsive and agile :praise: Keithan did a fantastic job for a basic tune :tiptoe:
So yesterday I decided to get her on some rollers to see what power she's making. The figures may not seem much higher than my previous run (left and right comparison on dyno sheet) But considering how hot it was (32 deg) im pretty happy with the results. You can also notice how the car holds power all the way to limit and power delivery actually feels more like a petrol car Increasing as you get closer to the red line

I remember reading this thread when it was posted , and I have been following it occassionally.
Firstly, great car! , I can see just how much pride and care you have taken in it.
Great job!!
You’d be the perfect person to ask as you have owned the car for a good few years and have done a considerable amount of mileage.
Besides mods and normal service items, oil filters, tyres, brakes etc, what other components have you had issues with? wear and tear items?
Just how expensive is it maintaining a 330d long term out of plan?
I recently purchased a 2011 320d sport and loving it, but if I’m alive to see the day , I would love my next purchase to be an F30 330d ,it would help to know what I’m in for…

Thanks for the kind words, I would say the biggest(most expensive) issue I had was the gearbox, only found out too late that I should do an oil service. Coupled with the high torque and high millage the clutches did not hold up, I am now about 100k km since the box was reconditioned and have not had any issues. The other parts replaced were the Vibration Damper pulley and stuff like control arm bushes and engine mounts which were replaced before failure. The recent failure I experienced was the turbo that when kaboom "assumed" root cause of failure was narrowed down to boost leaks and blocked oil feed to the turbo.

They really great cars, with the potential to deliver awesome power together with great fuel consumption. The F30 is phenomenal with that 8 speed gearbox :coolShake:
