Update time! :tiptoe:

Unfortunately due to the terrible weather as well as having a busy weekend, I couldn't do everything I wanted to. I wanted to remove the existing number plate setup, and re-install using Velcro so it can be removed easily when needed. I also wanted to remove the Lamin-X on the headlights and tail lights as the previous owner didn't do it all that well, and there were air bubbles.

Anyway, all I landed up doing was the removal of all the Lamin-X. At the moment I like it without the Lamin-X, but I can always revert back to it if I want. If I don't redo the Lamin-X then I will be doing clear VPS on the front bumper, bonnet and headlights after she has been detailed.

So onto the pics then:

One light with Lamin-X and one without.

And then both lights without Lamin-X.

I know the pics aren't great because of the sun and shadows, but I was too lazy to move the car. :withStu:

Next weekend I will do the number plates, and possibly make the "320d" on the boot black.

Any comments about which you prefer are welcome. :fencelook:

Yeah black kidney grills make a big difference WRT the look. Much more aggressive.

Thanks for the comments.

I had my 320d badge black for a while, then decided to peel it off, prefer it stock. I have a pic of it black on my threat I think

Nice pic!

Stock colour looks nice on the silver car. I would have kept the stock look as well, but unfortunately with my white & black theme it kinda stands out and is bothering me. :hammerhead:

I might just de-badge and see if I prefer the clean look. If not I will spray and re-install and see if I like the black. I'll probably use plastidip as well so if I don't like the black I can always revert to stock.

Nice Gunner,

I think we are over due for a meet up bud...I love the car without the Laminex, as for the 320d...Make that black IMO. It will go well and just look so sexy.

I did my grilles on matt black today and fitted them on...playing with the idea of doing the badge black also...

Just a small update.

I unfortunately didn't do much as I'm still saving money for a wheel change :bawling: , but I did do the rear "320d" badge removal, and I changed the rear number plate from being fixed with a bracket, to being fixed with Velcro.

Actually the number plate mod took forever, and this is because the number plate bracket was "over fastened" to the car. First the plate was fastened to the bracket with pop rivets. These were drilled out in 2 minutes flat. Then it was 2 screws that hold the bracket to the cars boot. They were out in 2 minutes flat as well. But then came the surprise... The a55hole who installed the bracket used like a whole roll of double sided tape as well. :bat: As if the two screws weren't enough.

It took me a good 2 hours to patiently and softly remove the double sided tape without scratching the paintwork. :shakehead: It should have been quicker, but my brother has my cleaning agents and he wasn't at home so I couldn't collect them.

Anyway, I got to spend some quality time with the car. :biglol:

This post would be useless without pictures so, this is how it looks without the plate and 320d badges.

Next I will do the front plate when I have the cleaning agents back. It also has like whole roll of double sided tape on it. :thumbdo:

Gonna do full exhaust (possibly with 335i diffuser), and software when MP expires. Only 3800km/4 months left. :woot:

So after having the car for a month, and driving around with open ears and open eyes, looking and listening for any/all faults I could find with the car, I made a list and took it BMW to be fixed while it is still under MP. Car is on 96500km and just about to run out of MP, so it was now or never as I'm likely to do over 3000km's these holidays.

The list looked like this:

- Clutch shudder when pulling off in 1st without any throttle, or when pulling off on an incline.
- Front left headlight was missing one mounting bolt.
- Airbag and seatbelt light came on after a carwash. I assume when they were vacuuming the car they unseated the electrical plug under the seat.
- Handbrake needed adjustment as it was taking too high.

So I booked the car in at BMW Isando, and wow these guys were on the ball. I was blown away with the professional service I received. Right from booking the service to when I collected the car, everything was handled so well.

I booked the car in for the service, and gave the person the list of faults I had picked up. An hour later I received an sms saying the car had been booked in successfully.

Then yesterday I dropped the car off. I arrived there at 06:40, and even though they only really open at 07:00 my service advisor was there and she took it in early. :praise: (Never seen this before)

She then informed what was on the job card, and I confirmed it was correct. The person who did the service booking go it spot on. :thumb:

She then informed me that because it was a clutch replacement under motorplan it might take 2 days. I was a little bummed out at first, but I thought it makes sense because they will need to do the whole inspection report, and get approval from BMW SA before they can go ahead with the replacement.

So anyway, they offered me a lift to work but a colleague was already waiting to take me to work, so off I went.

3 hours later I had received an sms with an update on the vehicle. They had dropped the box, removed the clutch, had taken pictures, and had sent them to BMW SA. They were now awaiting approval.

Another 2-3 hours later, she confirmed that the MP claim had been approved, and that they had started with the work. :excited:

Then at 16:00 I get a call saying the car was finished ahead of schedule, and I could collect her in 20 minutes if I wanted to, as she had just gone into the wash bay.

At 16:30 I get there, and the car is finished and waiting. I go to the service desk, and within 5 minutes I was helped and she had run me through all the work they had carried out. Now if the service I had received until now was not great, there was another surprise. Not only did they do everything on the list I gave them, but they actually also gave me new rear discs, pads, and put new sensors, even though there was at least 8000-10,000km left on the pads. :clapper:

All in all, it was a great experience, the car is driving beautifully with the new clutch, and I'm glad MP covered the >R10k bill.

BMW Isando is very good. I bought my F10 there as well. I just generally prefer going to Boksburg BMW as I've got a good rapport going with both the service dept and the parts guys.
