So after having the car for a month, and driving around with open ears and open eyes, looking and listening for any/all faults I could find with the car, I made a list and took it BMW to be fixed while it is still under MP. Car is on 96500km and just about to run out of MP, so it was now or never as I'm likely to do over 3000km's these holidays.
The list looked like this:
- Clutch shudder when pulling off in 1st without any throttle, or when pulling off on an incline.
- Front left headlight was missing one mounting bolt.
- Airbag and seatbelt light came on after a carwash. I assume when they were vacuuming the car they unseated the electrical plug under the seat.
- Handbrake needed adjustment as it was taking too high.
So I booked the car in at BMW Isando, and wow these guys were on the ball. I was blown away with the professional service I received. Right from booking the service to when I collected the car, everything was handled so well.
I booked the car in for the service, and gave the person the list of faults I had picked up. An hour later I received an sms saying the car had been booked in successfully.
Then yesterday I dropped the car off. I arrived there at 06:40, and even though they only really open at 07:00 my service advisor was there and she took it in early.

raise: (Never seen this before)
She then informed what was on the job card, and I confirmed it was correct. The person who did the service booking go it spot on. :thumb:
She then informed me that because it was a clutch replacement under motorplan it might take 2 days. I was a little bummed out at first, but I thought it makes sense because they will need to do the whole inspection report, and get approval from BMW SA before they can go ahead with the replacement.
So anyway, they offered me a lift to work but a colleague was already waiting to take me to work, so off I went.
3 hours later I had received an sms with an update on the vehicle. They had dropped the box, removed the clutch, had taken pictures, and had sent them to BMW SA. They were now awaiting approval.
Another 2-3 hours later, she confirmed that the MP claim had been approved, and that they had started with the work. :excited:
Then at 16:00 I get a call saying the car was finished ahead of schedule, and I could collect her in 20 minutes if I wanted to, as she had just gone into the wash bay.
At 16:30 I get there, and the car is finished and waiting. I go to the service desk, and within 5 minutes I was helped and she had run me through all the work they had carried out. Now if the service I had received until now was not great, there was another surprise. Not only did they do everything on the list I gave them, but they actually also gave me new rear discs, pads, and put new sensors, even though there was at least 8000-10,000km left on the pads. :clapper:
All in all, it was a great experience, the car is driving beautifully with the new clutch, and I'm glad MP covered the >R10k bill.
