Hope its going to a reputable panel shop who know what they are doing. Don't want to see the car come back worse than it went in which is the case with 7 out of 10 panel shops these days...

Agree. I have 2 cars at home which have recently had body off the chassis restoration, and they both need to be resprayed because the paint appears to be pulling away from the body. Epic waste of cash.

Tx Gents,

I will post pics, before during and after, yep it is reputable, and I did some serious homework after reading some horror stories on the forum! I have been invited to come every Tuesday and Thursday to take some pics and document the cars progress.

I have placed no time pressure on the guys, but rather have said they can take their time, this is my project after all!

So when I get Home I will place up some pics!

TX again Gents!

Some pics to get started, not soo good, hard to see problems, stone chips, clearcoat peeling, road rash, discoloration etc, but will post more later, (hope the image size is right)

Go easy on her, she doesn't look her best, but soon will!

Gents, as soon as they have stripped it I will receive the final estimate, been preliminary told to look on the other side of 20k, madness i know, but thats why we are fanatics, hey? Actually if one works on the fact that a new car installment is about 3-4k per month (average), this is only about 5 months installments I suppose! Ill keep telling myself that!

A little confusion here, I am doing a complete body job but not a "body off chassis" bottom up, thankfully my girl isn't that bad!

However there are trolley dents, road rash stone chips etc etc. somewhere in its abused life, something happened to the passenger door so I am looking for a replacement one.

Will be stripping down the interior, roof lining seats carpets etc, just not taking the dash out, all body panels engine bay etc.

I will post pics during and give a running cost! ( justo terrify myself!!!)

Big up to you for doing this. R20k sounds like a very good price. Have seen quotes for R35k plus for a full strip and spray.

As I look into my crystal ball I see many sleepless nights and then many happy days.

Hope all goes to plan.

Who will be doing the spray work, or do you first wanna see the finished product before you rant or rave ?

Company in port Shepstone called Status Panel Beaters, very impressive place and a close friend so better be more raving than ranting, just scored a luck, Clifton's M3 in CT just got in a 93 M3 just like mine and have scored the door, plus mechanisms and drivers side wing mirror and beading strips! So no repair on my door, just replace! All at a super reasonable price! Big thanks to Trevor and Nancy!
