It has been months or years since I posted in the showroom, I don't get attached to cars and thus change them very often - want to own them all with a small budget.
Recently changed my daily 318is for a British Racing Green E36 318i Motorsport which I purchased from a fellow forumite - the car has actually grown on me even though there are small issues that bug me daily. It looks the part and the previous owners have definitely given time to this car. Just serviced it and busy with cosmetics now.
Then we changed my wife's daily E46 320 Facelift (which was giving us 13l/100km in traffic and 11 on the open road) to a '04 X3 3.0i Auto (12.5l/100km in traffic and 10 on the open road) this was a very scary buy for me because I usually research a car before buying so that I don't end up with large repair bills which then slows down a new purchase and then I can't continue my affair. The transfer case problem has plagued the X3 and all the research I did should have put me off this buy, but I couldn't resist the price and condition. It has 150000km and well maintained. No drivetrain issues has surfaced yet - although I picked up a rotational sound from the tyres which turned out to be a nail in a new runflat. Used it from Pretoria to Ballito this weekend and driving back up on 20 June, got 700km from a tank (100km was pure GP N1-N3 traffic and 600km highway). Always wanted a M54B30 and this vehicle really works well mated with that motor. Gear changes are also smooth. I always thought that X3 didn't make sense being this compact but we have it for 3 months now and it works for my family of 3 and the high roof helps for cabin space. Not sure how long I will hold on to this but it has definitely grown on us and might be around for a while.
Next is something I bought because I wanted a I6 E90 and this came along at a good price. However after buying it I realized that it doesn't work for me right now so I already have it on the market. Its a 2005 (11/05) 323i (M) Sportspack (I checked with BMW that it is actually a Msport and not a normal E90 323 with the kit). Its got 169000km and well maintained but it may have been a rushed buy from my side as I could have got another car on my list if I had been patient. It runs smooth and the previous owner had it de-cat so it actually sounds quite nice. Also upgraded the sound system!
So thats it for now, if i change to something worthy of posting I'll update this thread if I land on a lemon - I won't have money for iphone data and won't be posting!!
Thanks for reading, got 3 more days of leave to spend in Ballito so back to relaxing and some Mo-zam-bik R&R before office politics on Monday.
