Thanks for the nice comments. I am realy enjoying the car. I wake up every morning excited for the drive!!!!
Truvalu, I am doing my Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the moment. How do you know the buildings?
If everything work out ok, (still trying to secure bursary) my son, who is in matric at Paarl Gim now, will be starting his take on Mechanical Engineering 2011...
My daughter also wrote a few subjects at night and Saturdays at that building some time ago... she was 3rd year "menslike lewens.... something, something (we know it as pshycology or something...)
Do you drive in every day or are you in a res? We are still not sure what would be the better res to have him in...
I drive in from Brackenfell every day and have been doing so for the past four and a half years. The only reason for that is that I'm a very private person and not one for the whole team spirit type of thing. However, I know that Eendrag is a very good res for engineers especially. Another good res is Dagbreek.
Good luck with finding a bursary for your son. For undergrad I think the big mining companies like Kumba and BHP Billiton are good when it comes to bursaries. Eskom is also quite desperate for engineers and so is Sasol. Then there is also Volkswagen and Murray and Roberts that provide bursaries. My guess though is that Eskom would be your best bet. I don't know how many of these you have tried, I'm just trying to remember where some of my classmates had bursaries.
Thanks for the info!
I have applied for many, many bursaries.
Sasol will only be open again in next year for applications.
You are correct not any-one likes the res setup.
We will see how it pans out.
Will meet sometime I am sure and have a nice chat.
What will you be doing since you finished your Masters?
My son was also told that he will find it difficult to persue rugby while studying Engineering.
There is someone who plays with him for Paarl U/20A who is in his 3rd year, I think and he manages fine it seems.
