So I took a drive in the dark to check out the fancy "Adaptive Headlights with variable light distribution":

- The "high-beam assistant to prevent dazzling other drivers" is freaking awesome and works beautifully

- The "cornering lights" which "ensure optimum illumination of the road ahead when cornering, thanks to swivelling headlights that follow the driver’s steering wheel movements" is more difficult to observe. But the lights are 'wider' when going slower and turning but not quite how I expected.

- So far I cannot find the "Interior illumination with variable colour effects in Orange-Red or White – selected via the iDrive Controller", except the colour of the dials change to red at night when the lights are on, but I was expected something different from the brochures "vicinity lighting in the door handles, front door handles with LED lights, LED reading lights at the front and rear with ambient light, front footwell lights"

Also haven't been able to figure out the "Cruise control with brake function" - well the brake function part of it. Any ideas?

Great car,the features on your car are never ending are they standard or were they optional extras?

Some are standard. The extras I took were: 8 speed automatic, sport trim, lights package and rear PDC

What an awesome colour choice.

Active cruise control? If so, that allows you to set the driving distance between yourself and the car in front. Car will brake when that distance is reduced.

OR

The normal cruise control (if the same at the E90) would be for the car to brake only if it is set and rolling over the set speed due to a downhill for instance.

PS: enjoy it to the fullest :inlove:

Yeah I guess its only the normal cruise control. The brochure does describe the active cruise control but it does not appear on the price list as an extra, so I assumed "cruise control with active brake assist" is active cruise control when it apparently isn't.

The current cruise control is known as Dynamic cruise control. In the f30 brochure it is shown as cruise control with brake function.
Basically the braking function kicks in when going downhill to keep the car at the speed selected.

The active cruise control is not available yet for the F30.It will be available from July 2012 according to the brochure.

I stand to be corrected, but from what I understood, you need the extended light package option.(SA563)

Petri, try Settings > Lights

In my F20 (which I think has a similar setup), there's a setting for ambient lighting, where I can change between Urban and Standard (in your case it will be Sport and Standard I think). For me, it changes the colour of the following LEDs:

- Above the cupholders in the centre console
- In the footwells
- Above the seatbelts anchor points in the B-pillars

Also, when I unlock, the whole interior is bathed in Urban blue, *very* cool!
