My E90 Overheated yesterday evening... Its now at Tune Tech

Car in question: 2006 323i Exclusive, with about 120 000km on the clock.

Isn't life grand. The day before an enormous petrol price increase, my car throws its toys.

So I was driving from a work conference in Magalies in the early evening yesterday. All of a sudden I got a temperature warning and my car went into limp mode.

I stopped immediately. There was no steam coming from the bonnet or anything and I didn't notice any leaks coming from under the car.

So after waiting a while. I started it and drove a bit. After a short while, the warning came back, but luckily this time I was near a garage, so I stopped there and called roadside assist.

Time to put my aftermarket warranty to the test....

Sounds like water pump to me , very common fault with these electric water pumps. About a days labour to get changed . Cost around 7-9k (excluding labour)

You should notice some sort of white substance all around the water bottle area. The book will advise not to open the bonnet if that light comes on.

My water bottle wasn't empty. In fact, when I opened the bonnet, I could hear water boiling.

I'm so f#cking stressed! This is the wrong month for this sh!t to happen.

But i'm not sure if they still use a thermostat in conjunction with the electric water pump. Seeing that you can regulate the circulation by adjusting the speed of the electric pump or just switch it off all together. Just asking?

i have no idea if it does. you mite have a point here does anyone know if thermostat is used or not and
2)f there is sensors on the waterpump ?

Caddy maybe the fault codes should then be best to enlighten you to the possible problem :thumbs:
