My e90 325i

Have heard (not completely related addressing your question) E90 window's tend to pick up stone chips very easily - mine has already collected some. The car seems to be like a magnet for flying debris - compared to the much larger frontal area of the bakkie that somehow seems to avoid this?!? :nonono:

No rain sensor just like me - now of course could be an opportunity to retro-fit this should you want. The windscreen has to then be for a rain sensor equipped E90 and then the other electronic bits fitted - saw this process somewhere on the internets...

Thanks - @ Philip - I think it is because a bakkie sits a bit higher from the road surface.
Thanks for the tip on the rainsensor.

@ herr - I need that film, if it is legal and if it works. This must be someting special that will protect against sandblasting. I was thinking of DCFix  , but is clearly not an option.

How about that LaminX mr. Abree ?

The windsceen was replaced by the insurance today. On my way back from work, I thought to myself, "why can't a headlight or a foglight be covered by insurance for stone damage?

Thanks guys - Are there no remedy to the glass damage issues mentioned?

www.vpsprotection.co.za

or 031 717 1980

find out who in pretoria can do it,have the front of my car done through bmw and when i replace the windscreen want to get that done as well

I Like this part:
"Our urethane film was developed for the leading edge of helicopter rotor blades to protect against the corrosive element of sand and dust at ultra high speeds. This protection is now available for your vehicle"

Will then fit right in with BMW's!

With the windshield replacement a thing of the past (I hope; you never know when the next meteorite hits :fishwack:), I find myself overheating inside the car and decided it is time to book the car @ Lea Haese Hatfield.

I mainly complained about the aircon and a separate issue - a slight fluctuation in idling.
I received a call stating that 3 parts needed replacement  to get the idling sorted. A camshaft sensor and some others that the agent were unable to properly explain. Here comes the interesting bit...

I need to take the car to Menlyn Auto to have the AC fixed. When asked why, I was taken down some jargon road about approvals and warrantees and what not. I have MP now - so I just want it fixed.

Called Menlyn auto. They re-gassed it in February and have no insight as to why BMW Leo Haese Hatfield could not fix it.

So when I confronted agent X @ LH Hatfield, he explained to me that their re-gas facility is broken and they cannot fix it at their premises :flyfun:
Now he wants me to re-book at Menlyn. This was far from the initial explanation :fencelook:

I just refused to collect the car (ever) until it is fixed. Told the agent to get it to Menlyn if they have to.

Obviously there is a leak in the AC system that has to be repaired first.
Mileage 85 439km.

Will let you know how the cookie crumbles...

Indeed, if your gassing that many times, there is for sure a leak...

and you better believe whats going to happen when it goes out of motorplan, its not like bmw is going to really care too much is it...

If you unhappy AT ALL, call motorplan headoffice, or call René at Leo Haese, there's 2 René's ask for the one from client service.

The "Rene's" were unavailable at the time of delivery, so I got assigned to the next best agent.

I think we (me & my bloody agent) understand each other better now

I asked my agent for a list of parts that they are busy replacing...
Here is a list:

Tapped cover gasket + new Aluminium screws
Outlet camshaft Adjustment unit
Impulse sending wheel
Inlet camshaft Adjustment unit
Collar screws x2 (for the Adjustment units)
2x solonoid valves (it goes into the head)
2x camshaft position sensors

...and all of this is causing a slight (constant) fluctuation of the idling @ a total +/- R16 000 .

The worrying bit is that the car was assembled, but it could not be delivered because LH is still not happy that the car is 100%.

Airconditioner was regassed and I have to bring the car back in a weeks time to have it checked out. No prob.

I don't mind them keeping the car until it is fixed; old faithful Toyota bakkie is to my service at the moment.

I am really concerned why so many (expensive) parts have to be replaced in the engine at this mileage. :thumbdo:

Sorry to hear about all your trouble.

This is just my thoughts but I think the dealers see MP as cash cows and replace, replace.

Have heard not sure if its fact or myth that a dealer claims from motor plan for a part. Only to sell it to a cash client of the books. That's double the money for one part.

:fencelook:

In that case I should get a complete new motor and gearbox replaced
